New Bilibid Prison (NBP) inmate-witness Engelberto Durano had two words Thursday (October 6) to describe Senator Leila de Lima during his alleged sole interaction with her within the national penitentiary.
These words are “tiguwang igat” or T.I. for short. Translated to Tagalog, the Visayan phrase means “malanding matanda” (flirty old person).
Durano gave this unsavory description of then-Justice Secretary De Lima who, after allegedly receiving P1.5 million worth of drug money from him, “walked like a model and posed with her scarf”.
But who was De Lima flirting with? Durano said it was Jayvee Sebastian, widely referred to as the king of the NBP drug trade.
Incidentally, Durano, an ex-cop, was the only witness at the Congressional inquiry so far to claim personally bringing money to De Lima. He said he placed the in a shoe box.
“Kinuha ito ni Secretary at inabot sa lalaking sumalubong sa akin. Matapos iyon ay umalis ako agad at bumalik sa aking kubol,” he recounted.
“Habang papalayo ako naka lingo ako sa kanya at nakita ko na lumalakad siya na parang model papunta sa gitna ng poste na bakal sa BTV3, sabay hawak sa poste at sa kanyang scarf at nagsalita na ‘Ok ba Jaybee’,” Durano told the House Justice Committee.
He continued: ” Ang nasa isip ko ay parang D.I. o Dance Instructor si Secretary kaya lang may edad na siya kaya T.I. na lang.”
Durano would later demonstrate De Lima’s flirty walk upon the request of a lawmaker. He said the incident took place in late 2014.
