Magka-isa na tayo! Duterte conquers ‘yellow’ country, tells Ivatans he wants to stop at politicking

After his visit at the bailiwick of former budget secretary Florencio “Butch” Abad in the typhoon-hit Batanes province, President Duterte shunned over the weekend politicking among his cabinet members in an attempt to put stop at the divisive practice of “bata-bata” system.
Duterte also told the people of Batanes that he wants to have a united Philippines, noting how he survived an election without any debt of gratitude against campaign contributors.
A very few politicos supported his presidential bid, citing the help of former Senate President Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel Jr and his son, incumbent Senate President Koko Pimentel III who were leaders of the PDP-Laban political party.
“Now, wala iyang mga majority-majority rules, puro naman tayo Pilipino,” he said in his speech in Batanes last Friday.
Duterte even managed to make fun of the situation after realising that he did not win in Batanes in the last presidential elections. The Abad-controlled province voted for Aquino’s anointed candidate– former Interior secretary Mar Roxas.
“Isipin ko na lang na nag-landslide ako dito. Malapit ako ma-slide doon sa eroplano kanina pagbaba eh,” he said, eliciting laughter from a full-packed crowd.
“Let us not talk about… you know, who reported what tungkol dito. Tapos na iyan eh. So ganito iyan: kung ano iyong pera natin, paghati-hatian natin. It will be divided equally na walang – okay ito dito; kontra partido, wala iyan,” Duterte said.
“And as a matter of fact, nandiyan naman si Mark, pati si Ben, pati si Judy. Hindi kami nag-usap ng pulitika. at ako ay nagagalit basta iyan. I do not allow in the Cabinet talking about politics. I do not even want to hear that this should be a priority because it’s the project of Congressman….,” Duterte said.
Public Works Sec. Mark Villar, Social Welfare Sec. Judy Taguiwalo and Finance Sec. Benjamin Diokno accompanied the President in his visit to Batanes last Friday.
“Wala sa akin, alam mo bakit? Nanalo ako walang akong partido halos. Iyong PDP was a moribund party. It was not alive, it was just breathing because there were two members – Senator Pimentel and the Father. Of course, the loose organization was there,” he said.
Apart from justifying his bloody war against illegal drugs, Duterte also enjoined all local officials in his campaign against corruption.
