Agot Isidro showed her ignorance and lack of breeding when she called Duterte a psychopath

Former Filipino celebrity Agot Isidro found new fame as Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s critic. In a recent Facebook post, she played psychiatrist and diagnosed Duterte as a psychopath:
Unang-una, walang umaaway sa iyo. As a matter of fact, ikaw ang nang-aaway.
Pangalawa, yung bansa Kung saan ka inuluklok ng 16 million out of 100+ million people ay Third World. Kung makapagsalita ka parang superpower and pilipinas eh. At excuse me, ayaw namin magutom. Mag-isa ka na Lang. wag kang mandamay. Hindi na nga nakakain ang nakararami, gugutumin mo pa lalo.
Pangatlo, may kilala along psychiatrist. Patingin ka. Hindi ka bipolar. You are a psychopath.

I would like to ask real psychiatrists what they think about Isidro’s opinion on Duterte. I don’t think professional psychiatrists would give out their opinion, especially not in public, without first meeting and assessing the person during a series of consultations. It would be irresponsible and unprofessional if they did.

Sadly, since Isidro is not a professional psychiatrist, she was irresponsible in her post. She resorted to name-calling the highest official in the land. Unfortunately, because she has a lot of followers, her post has become viral and is being hailed by Duterte’s critics. These people are exhibiting double standards.
Apparently, when a Liberal Party supporter like Isidro labels the new President a “psychopath”, it is okay. But when former President BS Aquino’s critics label him a “retard”, it’s called “bullying”. For six years, LP supporters either ignored BS Aquino’s deranged psychopathic behaviour or justified it. His lack of empathy was evident particularly in the aftermath of tragedies when he habitually smiled and/or made sarcastic remarks, like when he responded to a looting victim in Tacloban City during the height of the Yolanda tragedy, “Buhay ka pa naman di ba?” (“But you did not die, right?”). The term “Noytard” was even coined by his critics because they think his behaviour during his term in office was retarded.
As a political observer, I noticed that BS Aquino’s handlers have learned to stop him from committing gaffes by putting him on a tight leash. They did not allow him to make a lot of impromptu statements in the media so as to avoid public relations disasters like his comments during the Yolanda tragedy. A lot of people also noted that BS Aquino avoided making statements even when he should have made one. An example of this was when news broke out about the deaths of 44 members of the Special Action Force in the hands of the rebel group Moro Islamic Liberation Front. BS Aquino was only forced to appear before the media to make a statement about the tragedy after a public uproar erupted. And even with his handlers’ tight leash on him, BS Aquino still managed to make inappropriate remarks that were cringe-worthy and showed his lack of compassion for the victims.
President Duterte strongly empathises with victims of injustice.

Going back to Isidro’s Facebook post, aside from being irresponsible, she also showed her ignorance of Philippine history. According to her, members of the international community are not picking a fight with Duterte and it is only Duterte who is picking a fight. She is wrong. First of all, some members of foreign media and some foreign dignitaries undermine Duterte’s leadership when they meddle with local Philippine affairs by criticising him. The worst part is, they criticise him and his policies based on incomplete or fabricated information coming from local media and political enemies who want to destabilize the Duterte government.
Second, Duterte’s beef with the U.S. is deep-seated. He was even vocal about his resentments a few weeks ago before and after he left for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summits in Vientiane, Laos. It has something to do with the massacre of 600 Moro people by American soldiers in 1906 which, Duterte reminds us, the U.S. has so far not apologised for.
It is too bad that Isidro and her followers aren’t smart enough to understand where Duterte is coming from. It’s probably because Isidro and her followers do not have empathy for the suffering of the Moros who were displaced from their own lands. They probably think it’s not their problem anyway. If Duterte is a real psychopath, he wouldn’t feel sorry for the victims at all. Besides, real psychopaths kill or hurt others for fun. I don’t think Duterte does that. In fact, the reason why Duterte is angry or pissed off is because of the injustices committed by local and foreign entities in the past against Filipinos. That seems rational enough.
Some Filipino politicians who are also members of the Philippine oligarchy do act like psychopaths. They don’t care about the suffering of their own compatriots. For six years, BS Aquino government didn’t care about the plight of the commuters who lined up for hours waiting for MRT trains that broke down often. And what about the time when some farmers were massacred when they held a rally at Mendiola to protest the unfair treatment of the Aquino-Cojuangco clan at the Hacienda Luisita? The Aquino family never apologised for that. That is enough evidence to prove that they lack empathy – a sign they could be psychopaths.
Isidro is obviously showing her bias. She can’t see that the previous government did not care about the status of the poor when they were in power. Ironically, she probably thought she was being a responsible citizen by telling the public that Duterte is a psychopath. She just showed her lack of breeding and ignorance. She should realise that losing foreign aid will hardly affect the poor because for decades, the poor hardly benefitted from it. Most of the donations, whether in cash or kind, were likely pocketed by politicians anyway.
