Sen. De Lima Abot Langit Na Ang Takot: "Sana Naman Huwag Nila Ako Patayin"
There are two worst case scenarios Sen. Leila de Lima is preparing herself for: end up in jail or be killed.
"Naisip ko na lahat ng worse scenario: ikukulong and probably worse than that. Sana naman huwag nila ako patayin para naman mayroon akong konting laban," she lamented.
She said that at this time, she is under attack and surrounded by people who spread "pananakot, pandidiin, pandikdik, pamumuwersa, lies and deception."
The allegations from various government officials against De Lima were intensified after her former driver/bodyguard and ex-lover Ronnie Dayan was captured.
Dayan revealed that he received drug money from Kerwin Espinosa and then delivered it to Senator De Lima. De Lima was mocked incessantly by members of the lower house due to the details of her extramarital relationship with Dayan.
But for now, she is focused on proving that she has never been involved in any illegal drug activities during her term as Justice Secretary.
"Kasi they bury me, they bury the truth," she said.
She also claimed that the Duterte administration has been orchestrating countless attacks against her so she's waiting for the right time to answer all the accusations thrown at her.
"I just have to weather the storm and wait for that time when there's an atmosphere already for truth-telling," she said.
"In the meantime, haharapin ko na muna ang mga kaso." She added.
Numerous cases have already been filed against the senator. With the Department of Justice charging her for having drug links, she could face life imprisonment if found guilty.
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives is threatening to file cases because she allegedly told Dayan to avoid a House inquiry.
House justice committee chair and Oriental Mindoro Rep. Reynaldo Umali said they were considering filing an ethics complaint, a criminal complaint, and a disbarment case against the senator because of her affair with Dayan.
