Aguirre to replace SAF at Bilibid, says they’re corrupt–report

Looks like even the elite police commandos of the Special Action Force (SAF) can’t resist the allure of drug money at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).
An Inquirer report published Tuesday (April 11) bared that the entire SAF contingent which has been carrying out security chores at the national penitentiary is on its way out.
The writer of the report, veteran scribe and broadcaster Mon Tulfo, received the information from Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II himself over “a recent breakfast.”
“Many of them have been tainted, Mon,” he quoted Aguirre as saying, referring to the SAF commandos.
According to the report, many of the SAF members at the NBP are in the pocket of the detained drug lords there, meaning they’re receiving bribes.
Ironically, the SAF was tapped to replace the old jail guards at the penal facility since they were believed to be corrupt.
Aguirre is reportedly considering replacing the SAF members with soldiers.
