President Rodrigo Duterte’s absence at the Independence Day rites in Luneta yesteday became a big news.
The absence of President Rodrigo Duterte in an important event was criticized by his critics including Senator Antonio Trillanes IV who called him ‘indiscipline’ for not attending the Independence Day Rites.
But Philippines United Nations Ambassador Teddy Boy Locsin, defended the absence of the President in one of his tweets.
Rappler CEO Maria Ressa shared an article from her news outlet about the absence of President Rodrigo Duterte in Luneta.
Teddy Boy Locsin Jr. responded to Maria Ressa’s tweet and he explained that there’s no problem if the President skipped the Independence Day rites.
“Not important, he is where the flag is embattled, the commander in chief of those fighting for one and indivisible Republic, etc.” Teddy Boy Locsin tweeted.
In another tweet, Teddy Locsin defended the President again from another sarcastic tweet of a netizen.
Locsin also said that Leni Robredo was fit to attend the Independence Day rites because the President is busy in trying to resolve the current war in Mindanao.
As of writing, the President is still not explaining his absence to the public eye yesterday, but the Presidential spokesperson said that Duterte is only resting from the ‘brutal schedule’ that he experienced.
“He has rested these days. Today is rest day. It’s private time,” Abella said.
