Duterte to alleged organizers of ouster plot: 'I wish them success'

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte had been able to discuss with several Cabinet officials the supposed move of Vice President Leni Robredo's supporters to orchestrate political attacks against him, a Palace official said on Tuesday.

Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said that at the sideline of Cabinet meeting last Monday, Duterte talked to him, National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr., and Information and Communications Technology Rodolfo Salalima about the alleged leaked electronic mails containing the exchange of conversation between Robredo's supporters.

The leaked conversation was dubbed as "LeniLeaks."

Andanar said the President, during their talk, had wished his opponents "success" in destabilizing him.

"I wish them all the success," said Duterte to Robredo's supporters planning to hold massive protests against him, as quoted by Andanar.

On Monday, Esperon deemed the supposed sinister plot against Duterte as less significant.

"We have other more important matters...This should not be the flavor of the day or the month since this is just something that we already know," Esperon said.

"The best way to address this is to show that we are effective in anti-drugs, that we could address the problems that they are concerned with,” he added. (Sunnex)
