ROBREDO CLAIMS TO BE THE AUTHOR OF FREEDOM OF INFORMATION BILL

By Alan Villarante

The earliest legislative history of the Freedom of Information Bill which VP Leni Robredo claims to be hers, noted that the said Bill was first filed in about 2008/09 in the Philippine Senate by its principal sponsor Migz Zubiri. With the original title of People's Freedom of Information Act, the Bill (Senate Bill No. 3308) was first approved by the Philippine Senate on 17 December 2009.
This particular information proves only one thing: Leni Robredo wasn't the original author, didn't actually author, and never penned the FOI Bill as she claims to have, precisely because when the FOI bill was tackled and approved by the Philippine Senate in December 2009, Leni wasn't even in public service, let alone a member of Congress. We have to appreciate that Leni only became a politician, and a member of Congress after the 18 August 2012 death of her husband, then DILG Secretary Jessie Robredo.
So, how can Maria Leonor Robredo claim being the principal author of the FOI Bill?
If we cannot trust a person with even the little things, how can we trust that person to lead our country?
