Broadcaster Erwin Tulfo is fighting fire with fire. After he and his siblings – Ben Tulfo and Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo – received flak for conflict-of-interest laden P60 million ad contract in PTV-4, Erwin is moving to shift public attention to what he claimed as an anomalous contract between former Tourism Secretary Mon Jimenez and web-only news site Rappler.
In a video rant uploaded on YouTube, Tulfo showed documents signed by Jimenez and Rappler’s Carla Yap-Sy Su in August 2014 for a P9.575 million, three-month consultancy deal.
Based on the documents, Jimenez tasked Rappler to establish a tourism intelligence platform from September 15 to December 2014.
Under the contract, Rappler would submit a total of four intelligence reports and microsite and crowdsource platforms for three cities.
Erwin questioned why the Commission on Audit did not raise a red flag on this questionable deal.
“Bakit ‘di na-audit ang P3 million every moth na binibigay sa panahon ni PNoy na binibigay ni Secretary Mon Jimenez sa Rappler kay Maria Ressa. Bakit hindi niyo po ma-audit at maipaliwanag?” said Erwin.
Erwin said P3 million a month was too much for a consultant.
