Duterte: I will resign if Trillanes can prove claims

President Rodrigo Duterte is going to resign if Senator Antonio Trillanes IV can prove his claim that he has billion of pesos in his bank accounts.

"If Trillanes can prove his allegation that I have amassed P2 billion illegally or if that bank account under my name has a total deposit at one time or even just half a billion, I will resign as President immediately," he said in a pre-recorded video released by Malacañang late Thursday night.

Duterte, in his statement, pointed out that Trillanes' accusations were raised even before he became President.

"This is actually an old and rehashed issue. I have answered this allegation before I became president. The people have already spoken. They have placed me in the office with 16 million votes," he said.

"I would advise Trillanes to go to court and file the proper case against me and advise him further to stop opening his mouth when he has nothing to say anyway," he added.

Trillanes renews his challenge for the President to disprove that he has billions of pesos stashed away in bank accounts.

The legislator also said that if Duterte's bank transaction history shows that he was wrong, he is also resigning from his post. — BAP, GMA News
