DSLU Professor asks if De Lima’s admission having an affair with a married man can lead to her disbarment

“Would Leila De Lima’s admission that she had an affair with a married man lead to her disbarment?”
De la Salle University Professor Antonio P. Contreras asks his followers if the revelation of Senator Leila De Lima that she had a relationship with her married driver and bodyguard Ronnie Dayan can lead to her disbarment.
He also posted the supreme court resolution of the case of Jose Emmanuel M. Eala who got disbarred for having a illicit affair with a married woman.
Contreras’ friends quickly answered to his question. Regine Ala cited the Rule 138 Section 27 of the Supreme Court
Rule 138, Section 27 on disbarment or suspension of attorneys by the Supreme Court; grounds therefor; and Rule 139-B on Common Provisions, allowed din ang RTC and CA to suspend such Attorney until further action of the SC.
Grounds for Disbarment: deceit, malpractice, or other gross misconduct in such office, grossly immoral conduct, or by reason of his conviction of a crime involving moral turpitude, or for any violation of the oath which he is required to take before admission to practice, or for willful disobedience of any lawful order of the superior court, or for corruptly ot willfully appearing as an attorney for a party to a case without authority to do so.
Netizens also believes that her admission can lead to her disbarment.
