Trying To Figure Out President Elect, Rodrigo Duterte

Trying To Figure Out President Elect, Rodrigo Duterte

Zest Air Seat 4AIndirectly I have experienced this negative approach, where non corrupt become too scared to say a word because the corrupt will have them killed and then twist the story to one that puts the honest in a bad light. So it just reinforces the President Elect and his comments of, the killings of the media are corruption related. If they stopped being corrupt, the killings will begin to stop. They have become their own worst enemy.
Which leads us to the following 3 questions. Questions born of the blind, moralistic notions of a picture perfect society. And yet, the author seems to believe it’s going to lead the entire nation down some strange, dark path.

1. Is it wrong to ask our president for some decency and respect?
2. Is it right to laugh at his jokes even at the expense of disrespecting a woman? What if that woman is your wife or your daughter?
3. Is it right to kill a journalist just because you suspect that he is corrupt?
“Yes, we voted for Duterte and we still believe that he is the best for the position. But that does not mean that we have to condone his behaviour. That does not mean that we have to blindly follow him. My friends, if we continue making excuses for his grossly inappropriate behaviour and malicious ideas, then we are unwittingly evolving as a malevolent cult.” [1]

Defining A Personality CultClearly his intentions are well meaning. But let’s be a little more honest about things folks? Maybe after 3 decades of self serving administrations leading the nation and her people into nothing short of a socio economic abyss. The time for niceties has come to an end.
And his closing argument regarding the notion of evolving into a cult, is about as far-fetched from any logic could take you. If anyone is responsible for creating any kind of Cult in the Philippines. It was the Aquino’s and the Liberal Party. Just look around you. The Aquino name appears on numerous roads, bridges and buildings. Statues of Ninoy and Cory displayed in Godlike fashion. And the cherry on the cake? Your 500 Peso bill. Bright yellow. And adorned with their likeness.
Then we have Duterte’s recent remarks regarding the killing of journalists. Stating how they deserved the bullet they got. Amazingly, in the area of Philippine journalism, that’s probably not too surprising. What with their belief that freedom of the press gives them a green light to say, do and eventually print whatever they please. Most of which has proven to be nothing more than fanciful, unsupported shit. Which leads us to a more interesting observation of Mr. Duterte.

I think Duterte is trying to piss off the media. That’s his style. He leaves out innuendos and double meanings to see how people react. He toys with people’s emotions to see how defensive they become. That’s his way of exposing your character. Will you be weak enough to take it personally? Guilty enough to be defensive? Stupid enough to get angry? Or wise enough to figure it out and take his words with a grain of salt. Its like a game of chess. He sends out his pawns, and if you go after them, he will learn so much more about your motives. Word of advice. Don’t be too literal.
Discrediting the media is a strategic move. So people will not depend on the media to think for them. So we Filipinos will learn how to think on our own. Without having the Catholic Bishops Conference, the Church, or the media to influence and manipulate how we should lead our lives. We’re dealing with a high level thinking mastermind with a very complex thought process and if you are too simple and onion-skinned, you obviously can’t keep up with him.
I’m not sure why I understand the language of men so much. Maybe its a Visayas thing. Maybe we are a different breed. Or maybe, we breathe fresher air down south so that our minds are way more open. Then I watch the people in Manila throwing rallies regarding just about anything that they cannot accept and comprehend. [2]

There you have it folks. It’s not about Duterte forming strange cults. Or not giving a shit about anyone or anything. It’s about one thing. And one thing only.
