DREAMS
...

of earning money to buy good food; of sending children to school to finish college; of building a decent house; of owning farm lots to till; of starting small family business and of supporting parents and helping siblings,

DRIVE ...

Filipinos to leave loved ones; to leave homeland, to places far and near; to the 4 corners of the globe; to unchartered Middle East countries, bearing pangs of homesickness,

SOME ...

are lucky they realized fortune; some aren't, misfortunes hound them; some are blessed they send cash home; the less lucky ones end up in distress while others swallow everything hook, line and sinker; illegal recruiter's sweet convincing words for them to smuggle drugs.

PROBLEMATIC ...

OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers) or OCWs (Overseas Contract Workers) are lured and offered $500 to $2,500 as drug mules to carry prohibited drugs to China, Hong Kong and Macau; they conceal drugs in bags, shoes, clothes and luggage, inside soles of slippers, stuffed into fabric buttons of clothes and T-shirts immersed in liquified illegal drug; they even allow syndicate to sew drugs inside their abdominal cavities and aren't ashamed of tucking condom-full of drugs inside genitals,

UNWITTINGLY ...

Filpino Drug Mules are nabbed at destination point's airports; they aren't aware of special x-ray machines that can detect contraband even sewed inside humans; their ready-made alibis are brushed aside and not honored; poor OFWs their dreams are broken, they land in jails, imprisoned and await doomsday indeath rows.

NO less than Vice President NOLI DE CASTRO bared that Filipino Drug Mules arrested in 2007 and 2008 reached 46 which is classified as follows: 22 were sentenced to death and now in death row; 12 meted life sentence; 11 meted prison term of 15 to 16 years and 1 died of poisoning after swallowing the drug.

According to official Report, 62 Filipinos are currently in death row in China for drug-related offences. Of this figure, 53 are women and 9 men.

Under Chinese law, trafficking 50 grams up of prohibited drugs is punishable by 15 years in prison, life imprisonment or death.

WARNING:

(1) OFWs are reminded from bringing "PADALA" without opening the package to insure that no illgal drugs are concealed therein;

(2) Don't be enticed by sweet-talking syndicates in letting you bring drugs to China, Hong Kong, Macau, etc. Don't accept bribe money;

(3) International Drug Syndicate have already reached Philippines shores. Lately in Pampanga, alert NBI operatives has busted a WEST AFRICAN DRUG RING where 4 syndicate members 3 Africans, a Filipina were nabbed, saving in the process 3 Filipino would-be drug mules.

(4) No Intervention policy of the Philippine government. Vice President and Presidential Adviser on OFWs NOLI DE CASTRO said the Philippine government maintains a "no intervention" policy on drug related cases involving Filipino abroad, including those jailed for drug trafficking in China. It is very clear, If a Filipino intends to get involved in drug trafficking, he will be on his own. The government will not intervene for his freedom if caught.
