A list that’s getting longer

A list that’s getting longer

‘The day may yet come that everything we consume is imported.’
DON’T look now but we will soon be importing "galunggong" or mackerel scad, which was once called the poor man’s food because it was cheap.

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) says that we will be importing galunggong from China and Taiwan.

DAR explained that marine resources have been over-exploited. Actually, that has been the picture for quite some time.

Who’s to blame? Let’s look in the mirror. Have we worked hard enough to take care of our natural resources?

Supplies will dry up if we don’t take care of our aquatic resources.

Everything has its limits and this includes our rich marine life. It is imperative that we act immediately before it’s too late.

Today "galunggong." If there has ever been anything like a wake-up call to conserve and protect our resources, what is? The day may yet come that everything we consume is imported. A sad day, indeed.
