Impeachment trivia

Dahli Aspillera

‘SC employees know that they will upset their supervisors; their job efficiency reviewed; their promotion at stake if it’s known that they favor the trial. So, when told, they wear red.’

ALL law-abiding people must be distressed at hearing that Chief Justice Renato Corona’s impeachment trial has already cost the government more than P30 million of our tax money. An incredible amount, earned peso by peso by Juan Pasan Cruz, so wasted. Wasted for lack of prudence by one person. Spent for a trial for one’s failure to apply the rules of the Constitution in his life. Blame also lies on those around him who had no choice but to bow and kowtow to all his wishes, right or wrong.

(Those red-shirted employees of the Supreme Court--if they refuse to wear the mandatory red shirt, they are in evident defiance, are persona non grata; are in a precarious situation, job-wise. Since these rank’n’file insiders of the SC know more of what really went on inside than the rest of us outside, certain of them must hate wearing red.)

A clipping appeared on my desk, astute and timely, it deserves to be passed on and read by others. No author. I would like to give credit to whoever wrote the following:

"The Big Fish are surrounded by too many different accusers, too many witnesses coming out, too much evidence of misdeeds (where there’s smoke, there’s fire). Only the Supreme Court is in the position to concede or negate the fire.

"We must turn attention to the Little Fish that protects, supports, allows, connives with the Big Fish. Without this connivance, collusion, worker, that well-compensated destroyer of the paper trail, worker, serf, and slave of the Big Fish.

"The Big Fish is not unlike that whom we called colonial imperialist capitalist white exploiters. The moneyed, corrupt Big Fish dump corruption money on their greedy retainers (mostly shrewd professionals—managers, promoters, doctors, lawyers, etc.) to do the clever schemes, dirty jobs of the Big Fish. Without these greedy retainers, the Big Fish cannot succeed, cannot get away with crimes, from non-bailables down to petty crimes.

"White colonial imperialist capitalists function similarly. No colonial-- white, yellow or any color--can succeed until they find the Filipinos they can pay well to connive with them. There always will be born Filipinos in any and all professions who are willing to do evil to the nation as long as they are enriched by the compensation received from the Big Fish."

So true, isn’t it?

One of the lawyers of Gloria Arroyo, Atty. Topacio, said that Justice Secretary Leila de Lima is abusing her power when she issues travel ban on people with pending cases in the Justice Department.

"Secretary of Justice Leila de Lima will put a Hold Departure Order on anyone whose looks she does not like…."–Topacio said on Radyo 5. What a brainless statement. Gloria Arroyo must feel sorry for herself for having to pay exorbitant fees for lawyers making these statements that expose the extent of their quality.

This is the same lawyer who says he will have his balls cut off if Gloria Arroyo leaves to hide in another country. At this interview with Neal Ocampo of Radyo 5, where the subject inevitably turned to Topacio’s balls–using double entendre, sexual innuendo--expressing his need to have breakfast of two eggs and a sausage.

There are men who are so tacky that their conversations are habitually sex-concentric, either size, pleasure, function. Certain males’ obsession and concentration on sex is obnoxious. There are so many topics and issues intellectual and decent people can talk about.

Then there are some Radio 5 female anchors who are in the habit of using the colloquialism lamierda when they mean pasyal, paseo, to take off. How did these non-Spanish speakers get the word lamierda in their vocabulary without bothering to know what it really means? Will a Spanish-speaking person in Radyo 5 please tell these female anchors that the Spanish word lamierda means defecating, moving the bowels?
