MANILA, Philippines – For the family of late actor Fernando Poe Jr., the recent revelations on the rigging of the 2004 elections proved that "The King" was the true winner of the presidential polls.
Speaking at ANC television this morning, FPJ's widow Susan Roces expressed their unrelenting fight to ferret out the truth of the 2004 presidential race, where former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo defeated mass-favorite FPJ.
Arroyo's victory however was marred with controversies especially that several election officers during her administration surfaced revealing the former chief executive's directive to rig the poll results.
"We're (into this) fight because we want to prove that there were cheating (in the 2004 polls)," said Roces as her family will mark the seventh death anniversary of FPJ on Dec. 14.
When asked for reactions on the recent flight of Arroyo, Roces said: "Nakakaawang makita ang isang tao to go through all of that."
She however admitted she still had a bad feeling against the previous administration for destroying the trust of the Filipino people in the Philippine elections.
FPJ’s family also admitted that there's a "pinch" in their hearts every time "we call Arroyo former president".
Roces, who also went famous on her statement against Arroyo "You steal the presidency not once but twice," also thanked the support of Filipino people for her late husband from their movie careers to the entry of FPJ in politics in 2004.
"All through the years the Filipinos, the masa supported our careers. FPJ strongly felt we had to give back. I shared that with him," she added.
