Will the Philippines ever win again at the 2019 Cannes International Film Festival?


Who among the competing Asian countries will win the major awards at the 72nd international film festival to take place from May 14 to 25, 2019 in Cannes?

In 2016, Jaclyn Jose was the first Filipino ever to win the best actress category for her role as Rosa in “Ma Rosa”.

Maggie Cheung (HK) was the first Asian to win the best actress in 2004 for her role as Emily Wang in “Clean” and followed in 2007 by Jeon Do-yeon (South Korea) as Lin Shin-ae in “Secret Sunshine”.

In 2009, Brillantes Mendoza won the best director award for his film “Kinatay”. and in 2000, Raymond Red won the Palme d’Or award for his short film “Anino”.

Cinéfondation[edit]
