Rigoberto D. Tiglao, an established critic and journalist at the Manila Times, recently published an online article wary of two prominent media entities in Philippines- The Philippine Daily Inquirer (PDI) and Rappler.
In his article, Tiglao accused PDI and Rappler of conniving to oust then Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona. To accomplish such intent, the Yellows then spearheaded by former President Aquino bribed for a hundred million all voting congressmen against Corona.
"Many have forgotten that the internet-only news outfit Rappler, together with the Philippine Daily Inquirer, made up President Aquino’s vicious black-propaganda machine against Chief Justice Renato Corona that so unfairly painted him as corrupt, and who therefore should be removed from his post." Tiglao started.
However, Tiglao added that since Corona had an untainted reputation in the legal academe, the Yellows found it hard to vilify him and so they connived with PDI to influence newspaper readers and Rappler targeting the social media or internet users.
"PDI and Rappler made up a tag team in spewing out articles that painted Corona as a crook. PDI targeted newspaper readers; Rappler the new emerging cyber-space media." Tiglao claimed.
Tiglao then exposed PDI and Rappler's misbehavior acting in unison to throw Corona, who is Arroyo's appointee, out of the Supreme Court which will give Aquino and cohorts lee way in establishing their self serving motives.
"A sample of such ruthless and false Rappler articles are in the collage of headlines accompanying this column: “Corona triples wealth while in SC”; “Corona lied about academic honors”; “Ombudsman on Corona: ‘Certified liar’.” Tiglao cited.
"The PDI even bent its rules on publishing articles by journalists employed in other publications, to make the piece (UST breaks rules for CJ Corona) its screaming banner headline on January 1, 2012." Tiglao added.
"The vicious piece (above-stated) alleged that the oldest university in Asia, the University of Santo Tomas, bent its rules to give Corona a doctor in philosophy degree, since the Chief Justice did not submit a dissertation. The black propaganda was: Corona was such a crook he even got UST to give him a fake Ph.D." Tiglao explained.
Tiglao then conclusively stated how impactful this behavior instigated by the Aquino camp to the late former SC CJ Corona was.
"It was with the powerful Aquino’s political and media thugs (referring to PDI and Rappler) that beat up the hapless Chief Justice to a pulp." Tiglao concluded.
