Former DILG Secretary to Antonio Trillanes: "Karma at its best"

"HUMILIATION. KARMA AT ITS BEST. I WILL NEVER FORGET HOW HE ARROGANTLY TREATED GEN. ANGELO REYES AND SEN. JOHNNY PONCE-ENRILE IN THE SENATE. NOW IT'S PRRD HE'S ARROGANTLY CHALLENGING WITH WILD CLAIMS LIKE THAT FICTIONAL 9-DASH LINE. WELL, HE GOT HIS COMEUPPANCE BEFORE THE WHOLE WORLD WITH BBC STEPHEN SACKUR."

That's how Rafael Alunan III, former DILG Secretary, a vocal supporter of President Duterte, emphasized his point on a Facebook status he recently posted. Targeting Senator Antonio Trillanes for his so-called "arrogance", Alunan narrated Trillanes' interview with a BBC reporter and host, Stephen Sackur.

"It's not easy for me to judge but looking at the comments made by the members of the public in Manila to news agencies they saying things like: The streets are safer now, here in the Philippines we needed a ruler with an iron fist.. These are quotes from the general public that seems to be the mood. The ratings for Duterte still remain high 75% approval rating. I'm just wondering whether your comments which are constantly negative are out of tune with ordinary Filipino opinion," Sackur told Trillanes which was subsequently quoted by Alunan in his post.

Continuing with his quotations from the BBC host,  Alunan expressed how "arrogant" Trillanes had made himself in front of Sackur, and of the world.

"Believe me senator, if a western politician receives a 75% approval rating the will regard that as the happiest day of their life," Sackur told Trillanes.

"In May 2015, he (Duterte) said, Am I the death squad? It's true, that is true." So again he put his own record in front of the Filipino public even to the point of discussing his association with death squads and the Filipino public decided that this was the man to clean up your country," Sackur claimed directing his statements to the senator.

Alunan further quoted statements from Sackur which implicitly puts Trillanes to shame. In the following statements Sackur had cited Trillanes' past flaws against Arroyo.

"So in political terms, it seems to be your bashing your head against a brick wall… You twice tried to mount a coup against an elected Filipino president and in that case that is Mrs. Arroyo back in 2003 you have an aborted coup attempt which lasted, well let's face it only a day," Sackur told Trillanes.

Sackur continued asking Trillanes about the significance of his unwavering intentions for a coup d'etat, "You made another attempt to Gloria Arroyo in 2007 and you ended up in prison for seven years, do you think a coup is a legitimate responsive gain to the Philippines current political situation."

"As a final point, for all the fears of what Duterte means for the Philippines, right now viewed by made by many ordinary Filipinos this buy is doing a decent job," Sackur conclusively told Trillanes as if he was trying to "slap" Trillanes on the face with his factual points.
