The King of Kings versus the King of Comedy
One scene in the movie that sent the Church and other groups fuming was that of a priest, portrayed by Dolphy, accidentally dropping a host into the cleavage of a woman taking communion during Mass. Another showed a host getting stuck on the dentures of an old woman.
Off on a tililing rampage, fuming, huffing, and puffing goes the Church officials...
They have called on the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) to delete the offensive scenes or face a boycott of moviegoers.
"boycott of moviegoers"
That remains to be seen, padre.
It is quite a presumptuous threat coming from an organisation that is desperately clawing for relevance as the forces of enlightenment discredit its cherished dogma (albeit at a snail's pace in the Philippines). Will Filipinos rally behind Christendom's King? Or will Filipinos rally behind Comedy's king?
Abgangan ang susunod na kabanata.

It's all about the money really. Give gold to the prayles and they will shut up.
How's about filmakers make movies about child molesting priests? or the inquisition? -
I'm going to make it a point to see this film now, because those scenes they describe as so 'offensive' actually sound pretty funny.

Slowly but surely, I'm sure all Filipinos will soon be enlightened....

Too late! Dolphy's already agreed to delete some of the scenes. He did mention though that a priest was "consulted" during the making of the film. Perhaps that priest should come forward and face the music.

More updates! MTRCB chief defends Dolphy over ‘Fr. Jejemon’ controversy! This is fast becoming a freedom of speech issue on top of it being an attack on secularism by the Catholic Church. Fight fight! :-D
