An Open Letter to the Filipino People On Why I'm Supporting Mocha Uson for Senator in 2019

By Raffy Gutierrez, October 3, 2018 (Paki share, guys)

Dear Fellow Filipinos.

Some of you are probably asking why I am supporting Mocha Uson for Senator this coming 2019 Elections. I am sensing there is a lot of uncertainty and confusion even among the most avid Duterte supporters about Mocha running for Senate. I hope my writing this letter will clarify my position and also enlighten those who have been against Mocha Uson from the onset.

Before I dive into expounding on why Mocha for Senate, let me first put out the presuppositions and framework that I'm working on. Take a real hard and honest look at the people we've chosen to be in the Senate and perhaps also do the same for Congress. What do we see? What do we have? What kind of people have we elected in power? Almost 90% of them are only there not to serve the people but to serve their own interests, profiting from our hard earned money. They were full of promises before they got elected but now they have forgotten what they stood for when they came into power. Don't get me wrong, some of them are highly qualified from a knowledge standpoint and perhaps even from an experience standpoint. But these so called knowledgeable and experienced politicians -- have they really used their knowledge and experience to help make our society better? Some of them have actually made things worse, haven't they?

And then we have those who aren't so qualified from an experience and knowledge standpoint but are the ones who have truly tried to make a real difference. Sadly there are a very few of them. But is it merely because of knowledge or the lack of it that has made 90% of our politicians big time crooks who have done nothing but to enrich themselves? The biggest problem we have is that the 90% of the people we've voted for in power have their heart in the wrong place. They were never really interested in becoming public servants. Look at their profiles. Most of them come from the same political dynasties that have been in politics for decades. They have become so deeply entrenched that the next in line in their family win elections just because of their name. So what happens when 90% of our politicians have their hearts in the wrong place? You have a country like the Philippines. So much potential to be the best country in Asia but was held back because the vast majority of our government leaders only look out for themselves. And that is the truth.

Enter Mocha Uson. The biggest question I've been asked is what are her credentials. What makes her so qualified to run for Senate? My answer is very simple. Her heart is in the right place, and that is to be a genuine public servant that will put country and people first. For me, that is the most important starting point. That is the most critical criteria for anyone who is planning to run for public position. The rest can follow. Mocha can surround herself with highly capable and talented advisors who will help her succeed. You see, she doesn't need to it alone. But we need leaders whose heart beats for the people and not for the profit to be made by taking advantage of their power and position.

Whether you and I like it or not, Mocha's charisma and influence is very powerful and has no limits. She can easily steer the nation into the direction she chooses by virtue of her authenticity and sincerity, and unyielding spirit to express herself. Mocha Uson becoming a Senator and be guided by those who share the same passion and conviction will become a major catalyst for the changes that we need to see happening now and in the future. She has been in very challenging times in her own life and has made many difficult choices that have painted her as a person, who from the outside, should never run for public office. But we need to look beyond what we see outside and see what's inside: a genuineness and authenticity to be the voice of the common people, and that is us, those who toil everyday to make ends meet, and those of us who believe this country can still become great once again. Mocha can be the voice that we never had and was never heard.

Our country needs leaders who are willing to be real public servants and not those who are tried and tested TRAPOS who have done nothing. Mocha Uson coming into the fray, and given the vastness of Filipinos she can reach, makes her one of the best candidates for Senator. There's simply no ifs and buts about it.

So to the detractors, haters and naysayers I challenge you, sino ang gusto ninyong iboto? Yung mga alam ninyong trapong desente na pagnakaupo na at walang ibang gagawin kung hindi magnakaw O ang mga taong ang tanging layunin ay maglingkod sa bayan? Yan lang naman ang choices natin eh, di po ba?

I am hoping that you will take time to read and absorb what I've written in this open letter and understand why we need people like Mocha Uson in government.

Mabuhay po ang Pilipinas, Mabuhay si Mocha Uson at Mabuhay si Pangulo Duterte.

Maraming salamat and paki share po.

Yours truly,

Raffy Gutierrez
