Saint Cory: A Seriously Blasphemous Sainthood Indeed

John Goodman - AvatarIn a recent Philippine Star column, editor Joanne Rae Ramirez said Fr. Catalino Arevalo – a close friend of the Aquino family – sees no problem with starting the consecration process for Cory since she was a person with “extraordinary Christian virtues.”
BULLSHIT!!
Just the very idea of contemplating former Philippine President Corazon Aquino for Sainthood is a blasphemy to nearly everyone ever canonized before her. She never did anything of worth for her country. She did not lead the Edsa1 disaster as the lying Liberal Party and their historians have led – or rather demanded – you to believe. Rather, she hid under her bed, in a convent somewhere in Cebu.
She ordered the Mendiola Massacre against her own countrymen. In fact, They were the very farmers her thieving family had promised land distributions to decades prior to her entering office. She oversaw the return of the Oligarchy, and did so under the guise of a democracy. And after 30 years. The current state of the Philippines, is her brainchild. A nation more corrupt. Crime ridden. And impoverished than at any other time in its history. And there are actually people stupid enough to even suggest her for Sainthood?
For the sake of argument. Let’s take a look at the 6 year administration of Mrs Aquino. And some of the shit these nitwits seem to enjoy ignoring, so as to further justify her canonization. Between 1986 and 1990, the following occurred:
  • 23,424 individuals had been killed.
  • 229 Barangays, and 207 Sitios (small villages) were affected by 464 Cases of forced evacuations.
  • 20 cases of hamletting, which directly affected 2,306 Individuals and 1,675 Families.
  • 23 Cases of Economic and Food Blockades, affecting 8,925 Families and 427 individuals in 36 Barangays in the countryside. Of these families, 4,024 were victimized in 1990 alone.
Interestingly, the regime of Mrs Aquino, in contrast to the now demonized regime of former President Ferdinand Marcos, presents an equally shocking picture of human rights abuses. From March 1986 to December 1991, the number of warrantless arrests and detention had reached the rather alarming level of 16,000. Including extra-judicial executions in 1,733 of these cases. Of which 189 occurred in 1990 alone. Ironically, at the beginning of her term as President, Cory had stated on record: “I want the Filipino people to suffer, so that they will hate Marcos.”
aquinoFrom a socio economic perspective, the administration of Cory Aquino gave the Philippines more coup attempts than anyone would care to remember. Her economic policies brought in heavy inflation and caused the pesos value to plummet. The communist problem became so big that up until now, the nation is still wasting lives and resources to counter it. Her provisions within the 1987 constitution of allowing party list groups into congress have made redundancy commonplace and have allowed communists who are against democracy to be allotted government funds as congressmen.
Cory may be gone, but her regime – the set of rules, cultural or social norms, etc. that regulate the operation of government and its interactions with society – persists to this day. The outcome of Cory’s regime are its legacy. In short, Cory Aquino “freed” the Filipinos from the tyranny of Marcos and delivered the Filipinos to the tyranny of the Oligarchy. That was not liberation. It was simply transferring the reins of power from a one-man dictatorship to a collective dictatorship.
Yes! I can certainly see how she qualifies for Sainthood.
