The Vegetarian Who Supposedly Lived 256 Years - Vegazeta

Chinese Li Ching-Yuen, also known as li ching-Yun, supposedly lived until he was 256. Throughout his life he lost 23 wives. If his longevity one day was proven, it would mean that he overcame by far the French Jeanne Calment who died at 122 years and 164 days, and came to be considered the oldest woman in the world.

According to article published in the New York Times on May 6, 1933, Li-Ching was from Qi Jiang Xian In Szechuan Province, and it is believed that Chinese was born in 1677. On supposed longevity from Yun, they discovered that he was a physician specialist in medicinal herbs, master of Qigong and tactical consultant. He said the secret to a long life is to keep his heart calm, sit like a turtle, walk cheerful like a pigeon and sleep like a dog. The phrase was never forgotten by WU PEI-Fu, a Chinese Warlord who had great influence in the country between 1916 and 1927.

Li awakened the passion for picking herbs at only ten years old. At the time he had traveled to Kansu, Tibet, Annam, Sian and Manchuria. Shortly afterwards, he emigrated to Kai Hsien, where he met renowned masters of taoism who taught him internal alchemy, chi kung and the secret art of how to use herbs to stay healthy and achieve longevity. In the adult stage, after becoming a master of herbs and martial arts, he began to market the plants that he collected. At the age of 71, he joined the provincial army of commander Yeuh Jong Chi, assuming the role of martial arts teacher and tactical advisor.

In 1933, upon returning to his homeland, Li-Ching died of natural causes, so General Yang appointed a team to investigate man's past. Yun claimed to have been born in 1734. However, a team of researchers at University University claimed to have found records that li was born in 1677. Supposedly, the main evidence was some documents from the Chinese Imperial government congratulating him on the birthdays of 200 years. According to statements from people who met Yun, he appeared to be under 70

They say li didn't use alcohol or smoke. He was also a strict vegetarian. He used to make meals at regular times, and he was taking a juice based on Goji Fruit, abundant in amino acids. Among other habits, Chinese slept early and woke up early every day. He did not spend a day without practicing physical exercises and also meditated a lot, coming to hours without moving, with his eyes closed and his hands on his lap.

Proponents of their history argue that meditation may have reduced the natural aging of Yuen's brain, preventing brain shrinkage. In this way, he may have achieved a psychological and emotional conditioning that allowed a differentiated understanding of reality, preventing him from being hit by issues that usually affect humans and reduce his life expectancy. However, the truth is that until today no one knows if li ching-yun really lived so much, but his story became inspiring as a lifestyle.
