Bread for Eternity

Bread for Eternity
April 30, 2020

Thursday of the Third Week of Easter

John 6: 44-51
Jesus said to the crowds: "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draw him, and I will raise him on the last day. It is written in the prophets: They shall all be taught by God. Everyone who listens to my Father and learns from him comes to me. Not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God; he has seen the Father. Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate the manna in the desert, but they died; this is the bread that comes down from heaven so that one may eat it and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my Flesh for the life of the world."
Introductory Prayer: Lord, I believe that you are present here and now as I turn to you in prayer. I trust and have confidence in your desire to give me every grace I need to receive today. Thank you for your love, thank you for your immense generosity toward me. I give you my life and my love in return.
Petition: Lord Jesus, help me value more the gift of yourself in the Eucharist.
  1. A Gift from the Loving Father: The Father is the one who sent him and who will draw souls to him. “No one can come to me unless the Father draw him.” So, those individuals who heard Christ’s words and were drawn to him that day were doing so because of a gift of faith from the Father. If we today have faith in Christ, it also is a gift from the Father, who wants to draw us to his Son. If we have doubts or weakness in faith, we should ask the Father to draw us nearer to his Son and to help us believe with our whole heart and mind.
  1. The Word Was Made Flesh: Christ’s birth took place in the town of Bethlehem, which in Hebrew (bĂȘth-lehem), means "house of bread." He was also laid in a manger, where food for animals would normally be placed. Before becoming bread, which would be our food, Christ first became man. Merely giving us some specially blessed bread would not be nearly as significant as giving himself. That is how God always loves: by giving himself completely and without reserve.
  1. His Flesh Was Made Bread: The Gospel accounts of Christ multiplying the loaves report he did so out of compassion for the crowd: "I have compassion for the crowd, because they have been with me now for three days and have nothing to eat; and I do not want to send them away hungry, for they might faint on the way" (Matthew 15:32). This same compassion moves him to give himself as our bread in the Eucharist. He does not want us to die for lack of spiritual nourishment. Christ—in the greatest gesture of humility—became man like us, the same in every way except sin. But in an even greater gesture of humility, he descended further still to become our spiritual food.
Conversation with Christ: Lord Jesus, how can I not trust in you? You have already become human just like me. Then you descend to an even humbler state of service to become food for my soul. Help me to receive you in the Eucharist with gratitude, fully aware of your loving presence.
Resolution: I will start preparing my heart today to attend Mass this Sunday and receive Christ lovingly in Communion.

REPORT NG RAPPLER UKOL SA DASMARINAS VILLAGE DI MAKATARUNGAN at KULANG - Atty Trixie

"You Can Never Be Lost Where I Cannot Find You"

"You Will Never Be Lost Where I Cannot Find You"
April 29, 2020

Memorial of Saint Catherine of Siena, virgin and doctor of the Church

John 6: 35-40
Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. Everything that the Father gives me will come to me, and anyone who comes to me I will never drive away; for I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me but raise it up on the last day. This is indeed the will of my Father, that all who see the Son and believe in him may have eternal life; and I will raise them up on the last day."
Introductory Prayer: Lord, I believe that you are present here and now as I turn to you in prayer. I trust and have confidence in your desire to give me every grace I need to receive today. Thank you for your love, thank you for your immense generosity toward me. I give you my life and my love in return.
Petition: Lord, help me to have a deeper confidence and trust in you.
  1. An Empty Hole the Size of Christ: “It’s like I had a big hole in my heart, and I couldn’t fill it with anything.” So exclaimed someone who recently came back to the sacraments after being away for many years. She was hungering and thirsting for Christ, and, thankfully, Christ didn’t permit anything else to fill the place in her heart where only he belonged. On re-encountering Christ—in his mercy in confession, in his nourishing grace in communion—she was able to experience the benefits promised by Christ himself: “Anyone who comes to me I will never drive away.” Every one of us invariably finds holes in our hearts, small or not so small. Only Christ belongs there. To welcome Christ back in our hearts, we must seek out his mercy and nourishing grace.
  1. Then Why Are You Afraid? If what we need is Christ and what we truly long for is Christ, then what keeps us from going to him? Sometimes it is our pride, or spiritual laziness, or maybe superficiality in our spiritual life. But behind these reasons is often a fear that if we open ourselves to Christ, we will somehow lose out. Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI addressed this fear in his first homily as Pope: “Do not be afraid of Christ! He takes nothing away, and He gives you everything. When we give ourselves to Him, we receive a hundred-fold in return. Yes, open, open wide the doors to Christ - and you will find true life. Amen” (Mass for the Inauguration of the Pontificate, April 24, 2005).
  1. Can You Tell Me Where the Lost-and-Found Is? These are words that Christ has never spoken—nor ever will. It is his Father’s will that Christ lose none of those entrusted to him. Christ never fails in his mission. Rather, in today’s reading he promises: “And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me but raise it up on the last day.” This is our guarantee that we will never be abandoned and left without his grace to support us. There will be no difficulty, obstacle, or temptation too great for him to help us overcome.
Conversation with Christ: Lord Jesus, I trust in you. Despite the real struggles and obstacles in my path now, I know that you are leading me towards you. You are the only one who can fill the depths of my heart. Somehow, mysteriously, each of these trials is part of making that a reality.
Resolution: When faced with any obstacle today—even if it is small—I will say a quick prayer entrusting the situation to Christ.

The Unbearable Sign

The Unbearable Sign
April 28, 2020

Tuesday of the Third Week of Easter

John 6: 30-35
The crowd said to Jesus, "What sign can you do, that we may see and believe in you? What can you do? Our ancestors ate manna in the desert, as it is written: He gave them bread from heaven to eat.'" So, Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave the bread from heaven; my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world." So, they said to him, "Sir, give us this bread always." Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst."
Introductory Prayer: Lord, I believe that you are present here and now as I turn to you in prayer. I trust and have confidence in your desire to give me every grace I need to receive today. Thank you for your love, thank you for your immense generosity toward me. I give you my life and my love in return.
Petition: Lord, increase my faith in you and in your Eucharistic presence.
  1. God Sets the Table: For the Israelites in the time of Exodus, the manna from heaven was a saving gift. It descended daily from heaven so that they would not starve on the journey but be sustained and strengthened to be able to reach the Promised Land. The passage through the desert was arduous and long, but every morning there was enough manna to collect and sustain them well for that day. The true bread from heaven that the Father gives us—Christ in the Eucharist—does just the same for our souls: It nourishes us that we might not starve here, where spiritual food is scarce. It sustains and strengthens us, so we will be able to reach our eternal promised land.
  1. In the Church we are Truly Fed: Those with no hunger need no bread, so they do not ask for it. Those who are hungry make or buy the bread they need. However, every man hungers in his soul for a bread that he cannot produce on his own and that no one can make for him. His only recourse to receive this sustenance is humbly to ask the only one capable of giving it; he must come before the Lord with open hands and an open heart. “Sir, give us this bread always.” It is a bread both from eternity and for eternity. It satisfies our deepest hunger. But the “bread from heaven” is no bread made by human hands. Christ can give himself only to those who recognize their need for him and who ask, “Lord, give us this bread always.”
  1. Beyond Our Wildest Dreams: Could anyone have dreamt that God would descend among us as a man? Could anyone have imagined that he would descend further still to be our bread? Is there anything left that he would not do for us? To receive this unimaginable gift of his bread requires two things: “Whoever comes to me…” and “Whoever believes in me….” Coming to Christ requires moving—getting up from where we are, going to where he is, letting go of whatever our hands clench and turning our palms up to be filled with his gifts. To believe in Christ is to place our faith and confidence in him. It is to take him at his word and to accept in awe the truth of his real presence in the Eucharist.
Conversation with Christ: Lord, your real presence in the Eucharist is something I need to believe more with my heart. I do believe that with your bread I will never hunger and that with faith in you I will never thirst. Help me to grow in faith in your Real Presence. I know you will lead me to love you more through this precious gift of yourself.
Resolution: I will stop by a Catholic church to spend a few moments with Christ in the Eucharist, speaking with him, asking for a stronger faith in him.

Intuition Line, Do You Have One?

INTUITION LINE

The Intuition line lies at the side of the hand near the percussion. It rises on Mount of Moon, (lower percussion area) and in a curve, ends on or near the Mount of Mercury (mount beneath the little finger). The distinguishing feature of this line lies in its decided curve. It is a rather uncommon line. I have personally only seen a few in its entirety.
The existence of this line, if well and marked, adds significantly to the intuitive faculties and tends to enhance the Mercurian acuteness. If coupled with long fingers, pointed tips, full Mount of Moon and the head line sloping, the subject will be strongly psychic with visions, and they will be firm advocates in signs and omens. It is also one of the signs of intelligence.
A deeply etched line will give the most considerable amount of intuition. A broken or otherwise defective line (such as islands or crosses on the line) limits its value.

line of intution, intuition line, palmistry line of intuition, psychic line on palm
It is not always so large, it can rise from the middle of the Moon mount.

Rising or branching lines from the intuition line

Rising lines from the intuition line to any of the mounts can give clues to the benefits or downfall effects of it.
  • A clear line to Mount Jupiter shows potential success from the ambitious use of their powers.
  • A line to the Mount of Apollo is a sign of their fame.
  • If the line cuts through the line of Saturn (fate/career line), it can mean that use of the intuitive faculties might negatively influence the career. However, if it merges into the line of Saturn, it helps the career.
  • If it is partially mixed up with the line of Mercury, the health or nervous system may be affected by its powers if not used wisely.

Don’t mistake the intuition line for the line of Mercury

The line of Mercury, also called a health line, or line of the liver describes a person’s overall state of health. It usually starts on the Mount of Moon and runs upward towards the Mount of Mercury. It can sometimes look like the intuition line. However, this line mainly in indicates the state of the liver and digestive system. However, because of the qualities of Mercury, it can also depict business success or failure. If the line runs deep onto the Mount of Mercury with rising branches, it shows great success in business.
When this line is not present on the hand, it is that the individual is quite robust and rarely suffers health issues. The best kind of line is a clear, sharp line because it implies someone with a good constitution. If at any time the line appears red, inflamed or otherwise discoloured, it can mean there are toxins or an infection present, and the body is trying to fight it.

WHAT DOES A CROSS SIGN ON PALM MEAN?

MEANINGS OF A CROSS AT DIFFERENT PLACES ON PALM

The cross lines formed by two intersected short lines with similar length are called the cross. The crosses in palmistry have varied auspicious or inauspicious implications subject to the location on the palm. If a cross is found on the three basic lines (Life Line, Head Line and Heart Line), it suggests obstacle and difficulty while the crosses not on the three basic lines are always auspicious signs.

Below the Index Finger
If the cross is below the index finger (on the Jupiter Mount), it indicates that you are easy-going and have a keen eye on talents; you will get help from your lover, friends, subordinates or brothers and sisters in career and enjoy the happy and warm family life.

Below the Middle Finger
If the cross is below the middle finger, it indicates that you are talented in many aspects, efficient in both brainy and brawny activities and adaptable, thus a versatile talent. Also, you are very popular and widely loved by others.

Below the Ring Finger
If the cross is below the ring finger, it implies that you are helpful, very popular among the opposite sex and interested in public welfare activities; you may easily get wealth due to the help of the opposite sex and have good luck in windfalls.

Below the Little Finger
If the cross is below the little finger, it implies that you lay emphasis on appearance and tend to judge people with their appearance; you are predestined to fall in love with God and Buddha and you might be obsessed with studying numerology due to the religious belief. Also, it indicates that you may have more sexual desires.

MYSTIC CROSS

The cross between the head line and the heart line at the palm center is called inspiration line or mystic cross or sixth sense line. If you have the cross or sign, you will have a good sixth sense of predication and the scenes in your dream will always come true. You people have the cross on the left or right palm always like to study the mysterious and esoteric things; you are talented, ambitious and insightful, have a religious belief and you are enthusiastic about medicine, astrology and fortune telling.

Many I Ching researchers have this sign on their palms. A standard mystic cross at the very right location suggests the extremely high skill in metaphysics research while the non-standard mysterious cross suggests the inferior level.

Of course, the mystic cross does not necessarily suggest you will achieve success in metaphysics since it only indicates the skill level. Whether you can become famous and make a fortune or not also depends on the fame line and fame sign on your palm; even if there is a fame line or fame sign on your palm, the quality also matters.

The mystic cross is closely related with the hand shape. The value of the mystic cross varies with the hand shapes.

Walking With the Lord...and Not Realizing It

Walking With the Lord...and Not Realizing It
April 26, 2020

Third Sunday of Easter

Luke 24: 13-35
Now on that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, and talking with each other about all these things that had happened. While they were talking and discussing, Jesus himself came near and went with them, but their eyes were kept from recognizing him. And he said to them, "What are you discussing with each other while you walk along?" They stood still, looking sad. Then one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answered him, "Are you the only stranger in Jerusalem who does not know the things that have taken place there in these days?" He asked them, "What things?" They replied, "The things about Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, and how our chief priests and leaders handed him over to be condemned to death and crucified him. But we had hoped that he was the one to redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things took place. Moreover, some women of our group astounded us. They were at the tomb early this morning, and when they did not find his body there, they came back and told us that they had indeed seen a vision of angels who said that he was alive. Some of those who were with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said; but they did not see him." Then he said to them, "Oh, how foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have declared! Was it not necessary that the Messiah should suffer these things and then enter into his glory?" Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them the things about himself in all the scriptures. As they came near the village to which they were going, he walked ahead as if he were going on. But they urged him strongly, saying, "Stay with us, because it is almost evening and the day is now nearly over." So, he went in to stay with them. When he was at the table with them, he took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him; and he vanished from their sight. They said to each other, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he was talking to us on the road, while he was opening the scriptures to us?" That same hour they got up and returned to Jerusalem; and they found the eleven and their companions gathered together. They were saying, "The Lord has risen indeed, and he has appeared to Simon!" Then they told what had happened on the road, and how he had been made known to them in the breaking of the bread.
Introductory Prayer: Lord, I believe that you are present here and now as I turn to you in prayer. I trust and have confidence in your desire to give me every grace I need to receive today. Thank you for your love, thank you for your immense generosity toward me. I give you my life and my love in return.
Petition: Lord, may I always recognize and welcome your presence and your grace.
  1. About Seven Miles from Jerusalem: It could have been seven miles from anywhere. The disciples weren’t in a synagogue, or the Temple, or in the holy city of Jerusalem. They weren’t in prayer or preaching. They weren’t anywhere in particular; they were just between two places. They were leaving behind what seemed to be a failed dream. Yet, precisely in that unexpected moment—when they most needed it—Christ himself begins to walk with them. Christ’s appearance is never a moment too late, nor does he ever come a moment too soon.
  1. Stay with Us: Christ doesn’t impose himself upon these two disciples. He gives them the impression that he is traveling on, and he waits for them to extend the invitation to stay with them that evening. So it is with our lives and our hearts. Christ goes in only where he is invited and welcomed. He will come in—he very much wants to come in––, but he will only do so if we open the door.
  1. Were Not Our Hearts Burning? Only in hindsight can we begin to understand God’s timing and begin to unravel the meaning of his action in our lives. Only in looking back can we see why he gave us particular graces in the moments he did. What would have happened if we didn’t respond and hold onto that grace he offered? Take a moment to find God’s hand in the difficult moments of your life.
Conversation with Christ: Lord, your ways are beyond me. Your timing is a mystery to me. But I know that with my mind and heart open through prayer, you will be able to give me every grace I need, right when I need it most.
Resolution: I will not let a single grace pass by today without acting on it.
I know that when you gave me the responsibilities I have, you gave me the grace to fulfill them, too. Help me not to be lazy or irresponsible in serving you. Encourage me like you encouraged Peter, so I can fulfill all you expect from me in this life.
Resolution: I will work on improving myself today. Maybe I can find a spiritual book that will help me get closer to God. Maybe I can find a class or conference that will help me in some aspect of what God expects from me – parenting, prayer, charity, etc. – and sign up for it today.

THE SIMIAN LINE

Note: I know next to nothing about palmistry. I did some research on simian lines, because I have one, and everything I found is posted on this website. I am not a palmistry or a simian line expert and I have no additional knowledge about simian lines or general palmistry beyond what is posted on this page. A few years ago a friend gave me a great book (Palmistry, by Lori Reid) for my birthday, and I had fun looking up information about my hands’ traits (for example, learning more about my droplets, loops of vocation, and water hands). It was a casual time-waster that didn’t transfer into a desire to learn about all hand traits in all people. Basically, long story short, I can’t answer your palmistry questions or your simian line questions, I can’t refer you to a specific palmist (I don’t know any!), and I can’t read your palm. I’m sorry—although I enjoy hearing from other simian lined folks out there, and you should continue to feel free to email me and/or post messages in my guestbook, I just don’t know enough to help you or answer your questions about simian lines or palmistry. I’m not a palm reader, a chirologist, a geneticist, or a psychic. I can’t tell you what your lines mean or reveal your destiny. Trust me, a good palmistry book (preferably one loaded with photos) or a savvy palmistry expert can answer your questions far better than me!
I also want to add that aside from where I talk about Down syndrome or other medical conditions, the information presented on this page is speculative unless otherwise stated. It postulates theoretical connections between simian lines and certain behavioral traits and is not intended to provide undeniable medical proof that there is a biological link between simian lines and criminal behavior, mental illness, abnormality, drug addiction, or fanaticism. In fact, nearly all the information on this page comes from palmistry websites and palmistry books—not medical books. These palmistry sources are clearly cited on this page. If you want legitimate medical/scientific information about simian lines, check out my Medical Literature page.

Here is my simian line:

The simian line is also known as a:
  • simian crease
  • single palmar crease
  • single palmar transverse crease
  • horizontal palmar crease
  • transverse palmar crease
  • simian fold
  • palmar single flexion crease

The simian line’s name stems from its resemblance to the palmar creases supposedly found in the hands of primates. In a normal hand, there are three lines intersecting the palm, generally sloping at an angle. These are the head, heart, and life lines. A standard simian line fuses the top two lines (the head and heart lines), into a single, deep line which crosses the palm from one side to the other horizontally, rather than in a curving angle.
The implications of a simian line generally focus on three areas: dermatoglyphics (studying the human hand in relation to biological and organic disorders of an inherited nature), psychodiagnostic chirology (the human hand in relation to disorders of the psyche), and physiology (whether the bearer has a chromosomal disorder).
The simian line can be the target of negative connotations, and there are many conflicting interpretations of its meaning. Because its name stems from the word for “monkey” and because of its frequency in chromosomal disorders, most notably Down syndrome (one health website states that simian lines are found in about one half of Down syndrome individuals and is found in the normal population, depending on sample, in 1-15% of the people studied), many people are concerned about the simian line being a “bad sign.”
As the simian line is a combination of the head and heart lines, it is the frequent assumption of chierologists, dermatoglyphics experts, and palmists that the simian line performs the functions associated with both lines. That is, the bearer finds it difficult to separate emotions and what is desired (the heart line) from intellect and what is thought (the head line). They believe the simian line gives the ability to focus on one thing, absolutely, to the exclusion of all else. It is believed that these people generally achieve and accomplish far more than most, developing techniques and inventions that will last for generations. They also supposedly experience far more misfortune than most, usually due to the same intensity that drives them. The ambition for success in business endeavors will be strong, as will be the tendency to shut out all else in pursuit of these ambitions. People with simian lines are seen as being complex, forceful, goal-oriented, and egocentric.
Religious elements of the simian line are mentioned frequently. Arnold Holtzman, PhD, said that “Many of their numbers may come to identify with fundamentalist religion after living very open, liberal, and free-thinking lifestyles. Quite the reverse may be true, and to the same extreme, with those individuals who may originally have been brought up in very strict and rigid religious environments.” The writers at humanhand.com remark that “Psychological abuse was almost certainly present within your developmental years, probably taking the form of religious dogma. A complete shift in religion is now indicated as part of your life’s current direction—either into or out of a fundamentalist group.” It is stated at paralumin.com that “people who tend to be religious fanatics tend to have a simian line.” The roots of this perceived religious or anti-religious fanaticism probably stem from the single-minded intensity of the simian line which so closely mirrors the devoted intensity of fanaticism.
The simian line may be visualized as an agent responsible for sudden and radical adjustments in an individual’s attitudes, behavior, lifestyle, values, goals, ambitions, and, indeed, identity. Similarly, these radical adjustments may become manifest as new careers in areas these people may never before have considered. The individual, in this instance, may renounce a sound, secure, and long-standing career to devote himself, or herself, to a lifestyle which may be virtually a planet apart from anything hitherto associated with this person. Leaving everything familiar behind them these people may have felt compelled to fit themselves into their new skins, as it were. It is nothing which must necessarily respond to reason or logic inasmuch as this person would invariably attempt, and with much seeming conviction, to prove otherwise. As noted earlier, however, these dramatic developments do not always transpire. They would best be regarded as the exception rather than the rule... as a possibility and not as an inevitable expression of the simian line. Again, it is the “pressure” manifest as chronic, if low-keyed, unrest and general psychical discomfort which would best be the focus of the therapist’s attentions.

Excerpts from Palmistry: How to Chart the Lines of Your Destiny, by Roz Levine. Buy it here.
Some athletes (such as Muhammed Ali) possess a combination of the Lines of Heart and Head, known as the Simian Line. Found on any hand, this rather unusual line reveals an intense side to the personality. If this line is found on the hand of someone with an interest in sport, and the hand is strong and sinewy, there can be a love of intense, demanding competitive activity, such as running and cycling.
The Simian Line, where the Lines of Head and Heart combine, can often correspond with an impassioned disposition. This is a relatively unusual sign. Simian types are always intense in some way, although this is not necessarily a negative trait. When it comes to passion, feelings can get out of perspective because emotional reactions can swamp and overwhelm reasoning. Such people need understanding partners. A Simian Line found on the left hand often contributes to fundamental sensuality. Together with a full Mount of Venus, love, desires, and passions are even more amplified. If the Simian Line and…a pronounced Mount of Venus were found on the right hand instead of the left, then the combination would have a very different meaning. Sensuality and passion could be different to cope with. If the Simian Line and large Mount of Venus were found on both palms, then life would be ruled by unbridled passions, probably with dire consequences. As the Simian Line appears only on his left hand, Philip will have a basic tendency to experience life on an intense level. His energies are condensed, in that the thinking and feeling sides of him combine to create determination and a terrific ability to concentrate. His Simian Line is found in the usual position of the Line of Heart, which reveals that the feeling side of Philip dominates. A line set lower on the hand would mean that the intellect rules the feelings.
The Lines of Head and Heart are usually separate, but sometimes you will see a palm that appears to have a Line of Head but no Line of Heart, or vice versa. In either case, what you are looking at is a combination of the two, called the Simian Line. The Simian Line is likely to be found on the palms of people who have a strong tendency to be “a law unto themselves.” The word simian means monkey-like, but do not assume that the owner of such a line will bear any behavioral resemblance to a monkey. This line involves emotional and other responses… People with this line can find some aspects of relating to others problematic. They may need to understand how this line manifests in their lives and how best to handle the energies created by it … when separate, the Lines of Head and Heart allow objectivity and reason to rationalize and temper emotional balance because thoughts and feelings are combined. It is quite rare to find a pure Simian Line on both palms; owners of such will be very subjective and willful. They will not easily adhere to the usual norms of society.... In extreme cases, they will be completely ruled by passions and instincts and the law of the jungle will apply, hence the name given to the line. … This type often feels a lot of tension and internal pressure as everything is experienced in an acute way; this can give way to unreasonable outbursts, which can be aggressive. A violent tendency is found when other features, as well as the Simian Line, are present. If the thumb is very straight with no waist, a lack of reason will be very marked. When the Simian Line is found on both palms, look out for a short thumb. If it is very bulbous at the top and does not bend back easily under pressure, a violent temper is likely. It may be a good idea to avoid aggravating the owner of such a palm.
If the hands, apart from having Simian Lines, are otherwise normal—and especially if they are flexible—negative traits will be less defined. There can often be a great depth of highly creative energy simmering under the surface, which, if given the opportunity in terms of education and environment, can manifest itself in a powerful, highly individual way.
For a pure simian type—someone with a very defined Simian Line on both hands—all areas of life are experienced with enormous intensity. Powers of concentration can be tremendous as everything on a mental level is also felt emotionally and all feelings simultaneously register mentally. Whatever is chosen in terms of work is therefore crucial as it will be far better to apply concentrated energies to demanding tasks rather than to other people. Emotions can be so caught up in thought that responses can be, or seem to be, cold and unfeeling. Often, there is little comfort to be found in relationships as the element of sharing can be in short supply. The deep sensitivity of many simian types registers so subjectively that experiencing closeness and harmony in a relationship can be very difficult.
If this line is to be found on the left hand only, it can tell of a rather sheltered early life, or one where the child felt alienated, lonely, and misunderstood and apart from the rest of the family. There will be a tendency to either shun responsibility especially in early life, or at least to defy the rules, be wayward and deliberately awkward. In the matters of the heart, there can be a relentless attitude, which demands things to be ideal. The subjective nature can make relationships difficult, as it will be hard to make allowances for the other person and to realize that any harm is being done. Normal Lines of Head and Heart on the right hand improve the ability to realize harmonious relationships, but there will always be a basically intense nature, which can require much love and understanding from a partner.
If the Simian Line is found on the right hand only, physical desires can get out of control. Again, the subjective nature and basic tendency to see reason can create problems. When such powerful, concentrated energies are applied to a relationship, love can sometimes find expression only through obsession, as there can be some difficulty in articulating the magnitude of innermost feelings. The need to show such intense emotion may be directed mainly through sexual channels; the owner of such a palm would need a partner who also has a strong sex drive, otherwise the needs of a right-handed simian lover could feel excessively demanding.
If you have a Simian Line on one or both palms and have read some books on palmistry, especially those that were written a long time ago, you may have felt a bit concerned about some of the things that have been said about this line. Certainly it can create some problems in terms of the intensification of all your experiences, especially emotional ones and it can sometimes be difficult for others to understand you. Take heart, however, in the knowledge that it is probably better to feel so deeply than not to feel much at all; that your inner depth is subjective and often passionate-feeling can be a fount of great creativity; and that your powers of concentration can serve you well, depends on how you choose to use them.
When the Simian Line is found in the usual position of the Line of Heart, the emphasis will be on emotional intensity and subjectivity. Reason will take second place. A Simian Line in the usual position of the Line of Head reveals that the thinking processes are intensified and can deepen the powers of concentration.

The presence of this line can mean an abrupt shift in religious affiliation, particularly to something very unorthodox. If the line is deep, it can portend affiliation with a religious cult.

If you have a simian line, don’t let it make a monkey out of you. It doesn’t mean that you are less than human or not bright. What it does mean is that you have a lot of inner struggle and will have a hard time living a tranquil life.

It is best for those with a conjoined head and heart line to make sure that they have balance in their lives between these two forces and that they are very careful in paying attention to the intellectual as well as emotional aspects of life.

Deciding which should take precedence for you, the head or the heart, will be a difficult matter, and you may spend your life trying to find out. Unfortunately, this will be a constant struggle and will demand constant effort.

Beware: If you have a simian line … you may be more susceptible than others to some forms of heart disease.

Those with a simian line tend to confuse the rational with the emotional and are unable to separate their respective influences in order to let each one guide the appropriate area of life. They tend to think in absolutes and to be very focused on what interests them to the exclusion of other important factors.

This is not always a bad thing, of course, and neither is having a simian line. This kind of intensity could potentially make you egocentric, ambitious, and driven, but such behavior may help you accomplish huge goals. Unfortunately, such intensity also puts you at risk for disaster.

This intensity is often manifested in the attitude toward religion. People who are fanatical about one idea or dogma often have simian lines. Many of those with a simian line reject the belief systems they grew up with to accept another, often radical, faith. This kind of absolute change is often seen in other areas of life as well—in a career or lifestyle change, for instance, where the break with the old and the acceptance of something totally new and foreign is radical and thorough.

Having a simian line makes it hard to interpret what kinds of problems the markings of the line are revealing. It can also be hard to time the line so as to tell when these problems or influences will occur.
