Recently, one woman who as at the age of 82, and who was suffering from dementia and could not recognize her own son, has incredibly got her memory back after she changed her diet.
When the condition of his mother became severe, and there was a need to keep her in the hospital for her own safety, Mark Hatzer was also prepared to lose another parent.
The 82-year-old woman named Sylvia had lost her memory and some parts of her mind too, so that she had even phoned the police once, accusing the nurse who was taking care of her for kidnap.
However, one special change in her diet, which was comprised of high amounts of blueberries, as well as walnuts, proved to have had a strong impact on the condition of Sylvia so that her recipes are now being shared by the Alzheimer’s Society.
Sylvia incorporated some healthy foods in her diet, such as broccoli, kale, spinach, sunflower seeds, as well as green tea, oats, sweet potatoes and even dark chocolate which had a high percentage of cocoa. All those foods are known to be very beneficial for our brain health.
Her son and Sylvia devised to the diet together after they decided that the medication that she was taking was not enough, so they looked into the research which was showed that the rates of dementia are much lower in the Mediterranean countries and copied a lot of other eating habits all over the world.
According to Mirror.co.uk, her son, who also had a brother Brent who passed away in 1977, said the following:
“At the time when my mum was in the hospital, she thought it was a hotel – but it was the worst hotel in which she has ever stayed. She did not recognize me and once she even phoned the police as she thought she had been kidnapped by the nurse taking care of her. Since my dad and my brother died, I and my mother were a very close little family unit all the time, just both of us, so for as she did not know who I was, I was devastated.”
He continued telling his story:
“We were going together at different places. I despaired, and I never felt alone as I had no other family left to turn to for any help if I needed some. Overnight, we became a family in crisis, although we were a happy one.
When my mum left the hospital, instead of suing the medication which the doctors prescribed, we thought we would maybe try some alternative medicine. In a few countries, Alzheimer’s is not even heard of, and all of that because of their diet.
Every person is familiar fish, but there are also blueberries, strawberries, as well as Brazil nuts, and walnuts, which are apparently shaped like a brain in order to signify that they are good for the brain health.”
Also, Mark helped his mother to practice some cognitive exercises like jigsaw puzzles, crossword, and above all meeting people in social situations, so Sylvia would also exercise by using a pedaling device outfitted for her chair.
Mark added:
“However, the recovery was not an overnight miracle, but after a few months period, my mother started remembering things like birthdays and she was becoming her old self again, more alert, as well as engaged in different situations.
People think that once you get a diagnosis, your life will end soon. You will for sure have good and bad days, but it does not have to mean that it is the end. For a woman of this age, my mum does very well, she looks ten years younger, and if you met her, you will never know that she had gone through all of these things in life.
She had to have gelled with everything, but now she is turning it around. In our country, we live to the older age, but it does not mean that we are living healthier.”
The capacity of our body to heal is bigger than we ever thought.
We share this story with you in order to show you how resilient our bodies really are if they are given the environment which is right for them. Most of these kinds of diseases are often related to the diet in the first place, which means that they can for sure be reversed with leading a diet which is proper for it. Of course, some of them are genetic, and you may be the one that carries the gene, but that does not have to mean that it is going to become active, as there are a few things which you can do in order to minimize the risk. Our health is the greatest wealth that we have, so we have to realize that we do have a sat in our lives and what our fate is.
In one article named Strong evidence linking Aluminum to Alzheimer’s, which has recently been published in The Hippocratic Post website, Exley explained this:
“We are already familiar with some facts which claim that aluminum content of brain tissue in late-onset or sporadic Alzheimer’s disease is significantly higher than it is found in age-matched controls. So, those individuals who develop the Alzheimer’s disease in their late sixties, and even older, accumulate more aluminum in their brain tissue than those that are of the same age without the disease.
Some even higher levels of aluminum have been discovered in the brains of individuals who were diagnosed with an early-onset form of irregular Alzheimer’s disease, and who experienced an oddly high exposure to aluminum through the environment or their workplace, meaning that Alzheimer’s has a much earlier age of onset, for instance, the fifties or early sixties, in individuals who were exposed to unusually high levels of aluminum in their everyday lives.”
According to another paper that Exley and his team published, which was titled Aluminum in brain tissue in familial Alzheimer’s disease, the concentrations of aluminum which were discovered in brain tissue donated by individuals who died with a diagnosis of the familial AD was the highest level which was ever noted and measured in human brain tissue.
Professor Exley stated the following:
“Currently, we show that some of the highest levels of aluminum which was ever measured in human brain tissue have been found in individuals that have died being diagnosed with familial AD.
The levels of aluminum in the brain tissue from individuals suffering from the familial AD were similar to those that were recorded in individuals that died of an aluminum-induced encephalopathy while they were undergoing renal dialysis.”
He gave a further explanation:
“Familial Alzheimer’s disease or AD is an early-onset form of the disease with the first symptoms appearing somewhere at the age of 30 or 40 years. It is highly rare condition, maybe 2-3% of all cases of Alzheimer’s disease. The bases that it has are genetic mutations which are associated with a protein which is named amyloid-beta, a protein that has been heavily connected with the cause of all the different forms of Alzheimer’s disease.
Those patients with familial AD produce more amyloid beta and the onset of the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease are appearing much earlier in life.”
The first step towards change this is with raising our awareness.
As awareness grows every day, involving the real causes of such neurodegenerative brain diseases, the more that we can do to prevent and even treat them and eventually eliminate some things such as aluminum, as well as some other chemicals in our food to prevent this disease from happening altogether.
