I don't know about you, but for as long as I can recall, after the Ramos era, the favorite topic of discussion in any gathering of families and friends, including public fora, would be on:
"why can't we get our act together?"
"we don't have good leaders and public servants."
"when do we stop being mendicants?"
"what we need is discipline."
"we don't have a strong backbone to stand up as a nation."
"why can't the gov't stop injustice, drugs, crime, corruption, etc.?"
Well, now we have what we wished for. God heard our prayers and gave us PRRD, who says what he means and does what he says, with the flag wrapped around his heart.
And he's cursing at the mess he's seen, at those who cause it by taking advantage of our weaknesses, and what he's gotta do to fix things and make life better for the Filipino - over 100-m of us.
Sure, he's not perfect. But the important thing is that he's doing something about the things we've been complaining about for so long. If he's veering off-course, cite it. If he's taking things too far, say so.
Despite his seeming obstinacy, he still listens and adjusts. He's proven it several times already. We all make mistakes and those who admit it and try to correct it exude humility reflecting servant leadership.
Now, calling for his ouster 4 months into his job when he's still settling down, deserves push back. It's anti-Filipino. Treachery at it best. It only serves to obstruct the effort to make things right for the nation.
Why don't we thank the Good Lord for our blessings and work with him for the betterment of the country and ourselves? Let's think pro-Filipino and the common good.
Real friends and allies are welcome to help out.
Together, as one united people, we can lighten the load that sets us back socially, culturally, economically and politically, as one united nation, we can smash the forces of division and forge ahead.
