BUHAY Representative and former Manila Mayor Lito Atienza thinks that Senator De Lima loss the people’s trust after she admitted her relationship with her married driver and bodyguard Ronnie Dayan.
During the press conference with members of the House Minority, Atienza refuse to ask De Lima to resign, instead he told the former Department of Justice Secretary to ask the Netizens on whether or not she should stay in public service despite of her ‘sins’
“Due to the gravity of her credibility now as a lawmaker, because many people now will continue to doubt her integrity as a public official, eh desisyon niya yan,” Atienza told the press.
He advised the Senator to ask the people if they still trust her as a lawmaker.
“I cannot, we should not go over her rights. Kung mayroon siyang sensitivity to public opinion, eh magtanong siya, alamin niya kung ano ang damdamin ng bayan. Dahil wala pa namang judgement, so you cannot say she should resign.” Atienza added.
But he already expected that 98% of the people wants her to resign and leave Senate.
“Pero she should ask. Andali niyan eh, magpost ka lang sa Internet. Tanungin mo bayan, magreresign ba ako o hindi? I’ll guess ano magiging resulta 98 percent will say, mag-resign ka na oy,” Atienza said.
Sen. De Lima faced the alleged drug involvement after it revealed by President Duterte. Ronnie Dayan was also tagged by Bilibid inmates as the receiver of drug money for the campaign of Sen. De Lima.
