I say they are all full of crap. The Filipino people are no better than the North Koreans because they are under the yoke of something much worse than communism which is the obvious disease of MORONISM. Like the North Koreans, they also suffer from hunger, oppression and lack of freedoms because like communism, moronism brings down the economy and makes everyone's life miserable. If the North Koreans couldn't speak up because of Kim Jong Il's men watching over them and taking them to the salt mines if they say anything unsavory to the regime, The Filipinos could not speak up against their employers in other countries no matter how oppressive the conditions become because of fear that they might lose their employment and have to come back to The Philippines (which is WORSE than the North Korean salt mines).Ako ay sa paligid ng maraming mga OFWs mula sa US, Japan at sa Gitnang Silangan at ang mga kuwento na marinig mula sa kanila ay lumalabag sa iyong puso. I have been around a lot of OFWs from the US, Japan and the Middle East and the stories you hear from them will break your heart. They are basically good people with great hearts and they get taken advantage of by relaTHIEVES in The Philippines. Their children grow up without them and most of them do not turn out exactly the way they wanted them to. Some of their children and relathieves even develop senses of entitlement, demanding to be provided means to acquire the latest gadgets and fashion while the OFWs do things like return empty shopping carts under the blazing sun to the entrances of US Shopping Centers or taking emotional abuse from their employers while serving as Domestic Helpers, Japayukis and the like.
If communism is oppressive, moronism is worse. People under the yoke of communism can gain my sympathy because that system is imposed upon them. On the other hand, I find it hard to feel sorry for people under moronism because they are the ones who propagated the “system” themselves. If the communists have Marx, Lenin and Mao, the moronists have Revillame, Aquino and Abunda. The latter belief is more pathetic, destructive and idiotic because while the communists can be given the benefit of the doubt that they just mis-analyzed the communist ideology, the Moronists meanwhile have missed what is glaringly obvious due to a chronic deficiency in their ways of thinking.
Some Filipinos think Communism will solve the problem but little do they know that democracy is not the system that prevails in The Philippines but Idiocracy. Therefore the antithesis they are looking for is not communism but Realism. The revolution we need would no longer take place in the streets and mountains and fought with guns, knives and grenades. The revolution is fought in the minds of every Filipino and as much as we can, we need to eradicate in them the oppressive principles of Moronism.
You can start by questioning a lot of beliefs.
Whenever you encounter someone who says they are “Proud to be Filipino” when individual Pinoys win boxing matches or appear on Oprah, you have just come across a certified Moronist much more dangerous than Ka Roger's or Joma Sison's brainwashed “Pulang Mandirigma”. Just question them by saying “Why are you proud? Iyon ay ang kanyang paggawa, hindi iyo. That is his accomplishment, not yours. Sumangguni sa mga artikulo para sa karagdagang mga rebuttals: Refer to these articles for further rebuttals:

Whenever you encounter someone who receives money from OFWs even if they can work on their own is another follower of the Moronist ideology. They believe the bad financial decisions made by OFWs providing deadbeats like them money are acts of charity worthy of praise or “blessings from God”. Ask them how they can look themselves in the mirror or have any respect for themselves if they live like leeches instead of enjoying the triumphs of the human spirit through the fruits of their own labor? If you encounter OFWs or anyone who earns good money who enable these parasites and the parasitical principles, tell them that they are propagating the oppressive culture of Moronism which leads to our country becoming an Idiocracy. 3. 3. Whenever Flips blame Corruption for their plight, always remind them that that culture has thrived because of their culture. Remind them too that other countries have corrupt governments but they progress. Corruption is not the real culprit for he plight of Da Pinoy but their susceptibility to fads, inclination to party, festive nature, liking for easy money and over virtue-ization of charity. Those are only a few of the dysfunctions the Moronists propagate. Can you enumerate more for our benefit? This way, we can formulate doctrine on how to fight this scourge that has long made our people subject to unspoken oppression that never reach the papers, radio or TV. Our people suffer in silence and lose their humanity due to the system that we ourselves have imposed upon us. Filipinos should not be smug when comparing themselves with North Koreans because they are not any better. Until we get these moronisms out of our system, we shall forever remain an Idiocracy with our people being oppressed, silenced and stripped of their human dignity whether at home or all over the world.
Been to many countries…mainly for work…as a Filipino I am not always proud to admit / say so not because I am not proud of who I am or where I am from… But due to how my country is governed! Tingin ko may dalawang malaking problema! I think there are two big problems!
The people who lead my country….with the huge talent pool…..what are these morons doing leading the country?
2. 2. BAKIT namin pinapayagan ito sa!? WHY DO WE ALLOW THEM TO!?
Filipinos I have met in countries I have been to are proud and successful, can we say the same for our leaders? Mula sa Barangay sa ang pagkapangulo? From the barangay to the presidency?
Ipaalam sa amin gisingin ... ... o ibang tao ... kung paano mo nais na kilala bilang.: Let us wake up…..or else….how would you like to be known as:
1. 1. Ang pinaka-corrupt na pamahalaan ng mundo The most corrupt government of the world
2. 2. Isang modernong araw ng alipin sa mundo A modern day slave to the world
3. 3. Isang bansa na maaaring isamo tao kapangyarihan ... .... Ngunit hindi sang-ayunan demokrasya! A country that can implore people power…….but cannot sustain democracy!
Come on Filipinos we are better than this!

I think, the North Koreans are better…they have nuclear weapons and better armed than us…they can turn upside down , the foreign policies of the US We are oppressed in the same way..North Korean by their Political Ideologies…We, an oppressive political system of: Feudalism; Oligarchy ruling over us; and the mindless Theocracy. Political family dynasties; provincial warlords are in power…North Koreans have poor; but you cannot find any North Korean living around the garbage dumps, living to find scraps to sell, to earn his/her daily basic necessities. You'll never find any North Korean living in sub-human condition , along the river banks and ocean beaches, with makeshift houses made of tin cans, wood scraps, and cardboard boxes…without toilets…
This is the difference…I'm not advocating communism…I don't like communism…

At least north Korea is a feared country. Kumpara sa amin. Compared to us. We can't even afford to buy new weapons. We are only good at bragging and “chismis”.

Jesus, you people are so ignorant. You don't know anything about North Korea. I don't know if the writer also knows anything about North Korea or is just making a very, very uncomfortable irony. I do not wish North Korea's fate upon the Philippines, however bad the situation here is.

The point of the author is, The Filipinos have the power to change their country for the better but they don't. They are blessed with “freedoms” but since they don't know how to exercise their freedoms properly, they are no better than North Koreans whose freedoms are actively suppressed.
Give the North Koreans the SAME freedoms Da Pinoys have, they will do better GUARANTEED!
Iyon ay ang punto ng may-akda. That is the point of the author. If you were not so EMO, you would NOT have missed THE POINT.

The title may say North Koreans but the actual article describes returning to the Philippines as WORSE than the North Korean salt mines. This compares the situation within both countries not just comparing the people. And the Antipinoy yes men above took the bait, actually testifying that North Korea is BETTER than the Philippines.

In your beloved Da Pinas, the suffering of the people are self-imposed.

I get what rafterman is generally trying to say: that the Philippines is in bad shape because the people are morons and exemplifies the point by comparing the plight of Filipinos with North Koreans. However, my beef is that he did an awful comparison. He should have done the comparison more truthfully to make it more believable. Only people with no knowledge of North Korea will assume that living in the Philippines is WORSE THAN (not LIKE or AKIN TO, WORSE THAN, he said) being a forced laborer in the North Korean salt mines. Ito ay hindi. It is not. (That is a comparison about both countries, not just the people, by the way.)
The sad thing is that people here may actually think living in the Philippines is like working in the Nokor salt mines. This mindset betrays not CONCERN for the Philippines but utter LOATHING of the country.

Western media loves to point out, how North Koreans are only surviving because of Aid from South Korea etc.
Just look at the medals in Olympics 44, medals so far, They have highest medals after China, Japan and south korea….Now western media will again point out, that they do it for fear of prosecution if they don't perform well…I'm yet to see anyone winning a medal in Olympics with fear alone and not talent…
... North Korea also qualified for football world cup, I don't think anyone can qualify for a world cup with fear of prosecution alone and not talent and facilities…many democratic free countries have not qualified for world cup football yet…if it was just about fear….then all democratic free countries should have once qualified ….. ito ay may mga nuclear armas at kompleto sa gamit hukbo ... ang mundo ang "takot" Hilagang Korea ... Walang maaaring atake sa mga ito nang hindi umaasa ng tugon ... it has nuclear weapons and fully equipped army…the world “fears” North Korea…No one can attack them without expecting a response..
It's all western propaganda about north korea this and that…ground realities and facts are quite different….

I think this country is more fascist than it lets itself out to be. I see Government and Big Businessmen in bed together, I see Public Education is a scam, it turns people into obedient little sheep, while the Aldous Huxley/Brave New World Formula is being applied. I see people overloaded with information, most of it useless and not productive (ABS CBN/GMA 7 MSM seem to trinketize everything, including business); they try to constantly amuse and entertain us in order for us not to see the meaningful realities. This country is overly regulated. The free market we have here is most likely underground, not seen by the regulators. Government wants to be in your face all of the time. Like they do significant things for us. The most dreaded words I wish not to hear: “Hi, I'm from the government and I'm here to help you.” I am really more interested in the voting/consent process as it does not result in any change for the better in the Philippines. Someone told me that if voting will bring about significant change for the people, then the State would have made it illegal a long time ago.

" Rafterman wrote: “If the North Koreans couldn't speak up because of Kim Jong Il's men watching over them and taking them to the salt mines if they say anything unsavory to the regime, The Filipinos could not speak up against their employers in other countries no matter how oppressive the conditions become because of fear that they might lose their employment and have to come back to The Philippines (which is WORSE than the North Korean salt mines).”
Our conditions here are WORSE than dissidents working in salt mines? Ba na dapat na balintunay? Is that supposed to be irony?

On the other hand, I find it hard to feel sorry for people under moronism because they are the ones who propagated the “system” themselves. If the communists have Marx, Lenin and Mao, the moronists have Revillame, Aquino and Abunda. " The latter belief is more pathetic, destructive and idiotic because while the communists can be given the benefit of the doubt that they just mis-analyzed the communist ideology, the Moronists meanwhile have missed what is glaringly obvious due to a chronic deficiency in their ways of thinking.”

I find it incomprehensible that the writer would even find the fruits of “moronism” (our situation) the same as the fruits of Kimilsungism (Nokor's situation). Our state here hasn't even come close to what they have there. Hindi sa pamamagitan ng isang longshot. Not by a longshot.

The point of your misunderstanding is you are taking his comparisons literally that's why you are missing what the author is trying to say. Aside from the fact that he just used North Koreans as example of his main point. But we are a different kind of fruitcake altogether. Maybe they think their way of life is oppressive but can't do anything about it; their military and secret service will see to it that they toe the party line. Since when did Rafterman highlight that N. Korea was the worst country ever? Take off the tinfoil had geared at FAUX News and other funny zionist conspiracies you believe in. They are ran in a dictatorship with some progress in mind with belief that they don't mind skimping human rights for the better of their country. The Philippines are ran in a very loose democracy hiding as a oligarchy/monarchy where progress is a standstill and people like you delude yourselves through the help of the oligarchy sponsored media outlets that the state is in status quo with the rest of South East Asia (which ironically, is on the rise), with a penchant of ignorance for human rights.
You're looking for some form of parity. If you want to say that the Philippines is at par with North Korea in wretchedness, you're absolutely wrong and the FACTS bear it out. Rafterman is obviously using dramatic exaggeration to push his point that the Philippines is a ****ty country not worth living in. But I disagree with this article for the simple fact that our country is better than that. If you feel North Korea is not worth living, then why don't Pinoys come back to the country if they are living in a better situation outside? Why don't the scientists and engineers come back and find work for the glory of the nation?
Point MISSER ALERTO! POINT MISSER ALERT! Si Super sawi talaga oo ... Si Super Unlucky talaga oo…
North Koreans - Mayroong walang kalayaan at hindi maaaring gawin tungkol dito - Mayroong aming sympathies. North Koreans – Have no freedom and can't do anything about it – Have our sympathies.
Have Freedom but misuse it and end up poor – NOT ANY BETTER then North Koreans
Pinoys HAVE A CHOICE but make poor choices… So they are not really any better than the NoKors.
Ang North Korean-aapi ay sapilitang sa kanila. The North Korean oppression is forced upon them.
The Pinoy SELF-OPPRESSION is self-perpetuating due to their moronic nature.
Of course that could be changed, they just have to ADMIT there is something wrong with them and change their culture.

Super must be one of those drones who thought the Marcos dictatorship was bad, and was led to believe by western faux media that all forms of dictatorship are hence BAD. Yes, the leader forces to society and the industry to his pace without question of his leadership, but if they get progressive results out of it then whose to say they were at a loss?
Meanwhile the Philippines who have democratic system and the power of choice, always seem to choose POORLY, then blame it on the leaders who make the wrong decisions due to poor choice. The fatal mistake here is that Pinoy society since their supposed freedom in 1942 has always had a choice. And the media are just there to make light of the poor choices while exaggerating the mediocre choices as total positives.

“Rafterman's way about it may sting sensitive souls such as yourself but for those who can look at it objectively, its crystal clear what he's trying to communicate without the western bias about North Korea you are taking it in with.”
The rub is, Jay, he's not objective at all. To say that returning to the Philippines is WORSE than working in the Nokor salt mines is not being objective but being allegorical. (But I'm not sure if he actually meant that as an allegory.) Your reaction of “western bias” to life in Nokor is one reason why I thought the salt mines comparison was bad: because people like you might actually believe it. I have been strangely curious about North Korea for a long time and I read whatever I can about it. So when Rafterman nonchalantly tried to compare Nokor with the Philippines, I was immediately drawn to the premise because of my fixation with North Korea. There were ways to write a satire elegantly and tastefully, but I don't think this was one of them. I objected to his statement that returning to the Philippines is WORSE than working in the Nokor salt mines because IT IS NOT. Ignorant elements of the Antipinoy crowd will immediately seize upon this false statement as if it was a fact. And they did. Case in point: you.
“If you feel North Korea is not worth living, then why don't Pinoys come back to the country if they are living in a better situation outside? Why don't the scientists and engineers come back and find work for the glory of the nation?”
This statement is confusing. Let me try to parse what you mean by this statement: Since living in Nokor is sh!t, why don't Filipinos work in the Philippines for less pay(?). I can't understand what you mean.
“You disagree, then go about whining about lack of parity when you aren't coming up with counter points that were established.”
What counter points do you want me to give? My point is, simply, living in the Philippines is not like working in the Nokor salt mines. And I have given facts in another thread. I don't believe a significant number of Filipinos are reduced to eating tree bark and grass in order to survive.
The writer can compare and contrast and give analogies all he wants. What I'm saying is that it is a BAD analogy because I believe, rightly, that living in the Philippines is not WORSE than working in the Nokor salt mines. The problem with you and the Antipinoy yes men are that you are as knee-jerk as those you accuse. When someone objects to a certain point on an article, you all howl “emo,” “noytard” and “welfare queen”. You are as “emo” as most Filipinos. In fact, this entire article is “emo.” It has little to do with facts but is an emotional appeal on how sh!tty Filipinos and the Philippines are. But what's wrong with being emo? We are Filipinos after all. Wahahahahaha!
“And if you loved your country so much, why don't you want to see it for the better instead of sucking it up with the rest of the sycophantic worms expecting the same mediocrity to change things for the country?”
Of course, I want to see the Philippines progress. However, I still don't believe that living here is WORSE than working in the Nokor salt mines. See my point?
The problem with you is that you want everyone to join your club of self-loathing and anyone objects on any point, you accuse of borderline treason. I know there's something wrong with our country, like you do. Some of what the articles here say are spot on. But that's why I object on certain articles here as much as possible. This site claims to give tough love about the state of the Philippines. But you can only give so much “tough love” before someone actually believes you just plain hate the Philippines. That's why I cry for balance. Because I cannot believe you would hate the Philippines so much as to casually liken its situation to Nokor salt mines. Some day, you people should write about how you actually LOVE the Philippines like you really mean it. Because saying “Everything about the Philippines is sh!t but I love it! Really!” isn't cutting it anymore.
“This isn't about an issue of patriotism more than it is a reality you cannot see well due the yellow covered ninoy glasses in front of your eyes.”
Are you sure I voted for Noynoy? Oh, Jay. Looking at life through Antipinoy glasses, where everyone is classified one-dimensionally, must be so simple. Everyone who objects is a Noytard! And anyone who is proud to be Filipino is stupid! Wahahahahaha!
“Super must be one of those drones who thought the Marcos dictatorship was bad, and was led to believe by western faux media that all forms of dictatorship are hence BAD.”
Are you then saying that the North Korean dictatorship is actually good?
“Yes, the leader forces to society and the industry to his pace without question of his leadership, but if they get progressive results out of it then whose to say they were at a loss?”
What are the progressive results out of North Korea? Nuclear weapons? An million-strong army? A total of 10 medals at the Olympics? What else can you think of?

That is the price they pay. They don't have the ability to criticize their dear leader, but he's making progressive moves that even a third world country like pinas wouldn't have the balls for. The people aren't making the choices, but the leader are calling the right shots. The people are also technically educated in order to contribute to their society.
The people in the Philippines are happy they are poor because they had a choice! They can also choose to be rich and progressive, but that would require the choice of speaking out and breaking the status-quo that the oligarchs have established and the people have come to accept. The gap in education is also measured with the gap of those who have and who don't have.
What the idiots aren't seeing, and concentrating so much on the obvious negativity, is that the Philippines can enjoy both the progress and discipline of North Korea while having the democracy that is also just and fair. But no, they choose to be happy and poor and to be institutionalized by the lazy rich who control the country.

@Ray, it's obvious that you missed the writer's point as well. Your reply proves that. The writer is comparing the mentality of the people against the situation of two countries: North Korea and the Philippines. North Korea is down and out because the people have no choices. The Philippines is down and out because despite having choices, they continuously make wrong decisions. The writer does NOT say that North Koreans are BETTER than Filipinos. (But you did.) He says that Filipinos ARE NOT ANY BETTER. That's different. And that's correct.
My beef is that while he does not make a categorical comparison of North Koreans and Filipinos, he makes a definite comparison of the SITUATION of the Philippines and North Korea. He says that living in the Philippines is WORSE than the Nokor salt mines, which is altogether wrong. If he had just said that both countries are in a bad state and left it at that, I would have little to b!tch about. But he didn't. In his effort to bolster his premise that “moronism” is WORSE than communism, he had to qualify it by saying that the SITUATION caused by “moronism” is WORSE than one caused by communism, hence the Nokor salt mines comparison. Which is erroneous. That is why I said it is a BAD COMPARISON. The situation caused by “moronism” (ie, the writer's assessment of Philippine culture as a whole) is not as bad as the one caused by the oppressive, totalitarian version of communism advocated by North Korea. Not by a longshot. If the writer would have just said that “moronism” and oppressive totalitarianism both produces bad results, that would've been fine and accurate. But he had to go overboard. And I had to clarify it.
It seems apt now that I had to clarify it at all, because some people (eg, you) missed the point of the article, that that Filipinos ARE NOT ANY BETTER than North Koreans, as well as riding the patently wrong assertion of the article, that the situation of the Philippines is WORSE than Nokor salt mines, to its logical conclusion.
How about that? I actually understood the article BETTER than you did! Wahahahahaha!

It's about priorities too, tuod. The Philippines could also make ICBMs and nuclear weapons at the expense of their citizens, leaving them to sacrifice life and liberty for the worthless pursuits of the elite. Our government could use the money alloted for food to produce weapons like North Korea does and let its citizens eat bark and grass after they consumed all the remaining trash. Would that make you proud to be a Filipino?
Within North Korea, they consider themselves a race above all others. Filipinos touting that they are great is a self-deprecating inside joke (one that Antipinoys take way too seriously) while within North Korea, they honestly believe it. Even while they die of starvation.

The problem with you and the others here are that when you read an article here which you agree with (ie, pointing out how awful living in the Philippines is or how stupid Filipinos are) you do not care for the fine points anymore. The article is exactly what you and others said: bemoaning how moronic the Filipinos are with their use of freedom. But it also says inaccurate things like:
“The Filipinos could not speak up against their employers in other countries no matter how oppressive the conditions become because of fear that they might lose their employment and have to come back to The Philippines (which is WORSE than the North Korean salt mines).”
The fact is life in the Philippines is not WORSE the Nokor salt mines. It's an exaggeration used for dramatic effect but one worth clarifying. The fact that some people here like Jay actually think that statement true is exactly why I pointed that out. And saying that so casually in the first place sheds light on what the writer actually thinks about the Philippines and Filipinos.

The writer thinks that Filipinos ARE NOT ANY BETTER than North Koreans. That's correct. But he had to say that life in the Philippines is WORSE than Nokor salt mines. Now that's a mistake caused by overeagerness. A mistake NO ONE here can defend. I believe you're confusing the author's assessment of the PEOPLE with their respective countries' SITUATIONS. Judging the collective character of PEOPLE and measuring them against one another is subjective and pointless. However, measuring the CONDITIONS of different countries and comparing them with each other is much easier. The writer was right with the former but wrong with the latter.
The opposition against me have been scathing, knee-jerk and emo. And as such, failed to recognize that I ACTUALLY did understand what the article was trying to say. I digested it and found valid points to criticize. I think it's you who should follow Mark Twain's advice. Just saying.

“And I guess my opponents calling me Super Unlucky, bozo and gunggong is totally called for. Yeah sure. I hope your next comment calls out these guys also. Maybe you should also call out this site's webmaster”
Translation of superlucky's obviously genius logic: Since others are doing it, it's also okay for me to do it too since they are also doing it! Yehey, I will divert attention away from the topic by emotionally attacking the authors of the site, put up some strawmen arguments to beat will just spouting my mouth off just for the sake of opposing someone because I disagree with them. They're doing it anyway so it's all right if I do it too!!!! HURR DURR!
See what I'm talking about when I say “Typical Pinoy logic”? And typing childish internet memes like “PWNT” does not make you any more right either. I'm sorry but until you grow up, take some logic 101 courses and your brains occupy what is unfortunately a waste of a brain case, I don't think I will have to take your rants seriously. Try again, and please try sticking to the points (while COMPREHENDING what you're criticizing) next time so that your posts might have merit and that people might take you seriously.

Oh, and lest I forget, I forgot to reply back to your laughable post:
“Actually, it didn't fly over my head. Why do you people always assume that?”
Because the you wrote that piece of cowdung of an argument way back on August 10th, 2011 at 2:36 pm but backpedalled when it was becoming glaringly obvious that you suffered from some comprehension problems and didn't get the point. Just to note the time difference, I will post this again.
On August 10th, 2011 at 2:36 pm, you said this:
“If you want to say that the Philippines is at par with North Korea in wretchedness, you're absolutely wrong and the FACTS bear it out. Rafterman is obviously using dramatic exaggeration to push his point that the Philippines is a ****ty country not worth living in. But I disagree with this article for the simple fact that our country is better than that. I actually love my country, you people just pretend you do.”
But you backpedalled 6 days later since it was obvious you lack the decent English comprehension skills like most Pinoys to learn what satire in an article is. On August 16th, 2011 at 11:43 pm:
“s obvious that you missed the writer's point as well. And that's correct.”
Not only do you need to take Mark Twain's quote to heart, you also need to grow a pair (and when I say “pair”, I mean “balls” since you've already demonstrated your inept capability to comprehend English) and man up to your mistakes. Unfortunate that you typify the typical Filipino – too much pride and cannot admit his mistakes. We even see this amongst our politicians who have too much of a thick face to still not step down even when they are caught with their hands on the cookie jar.
Filipinos like you make me sick, you are the reason why the country is down! Pwe!
