BECAUSE OF PRESIDENT DUTERTE,THE PHILIPPINES AND THE FILIPINOS WERE RECOGNIZED
A lot of foreign communities before look down on Filipinos especially in Hong Kong. Chip Sao,a famous commentator in Hongkong once called the Philippines as a "nation of servants" and had to apologise for it. And we can say that he is not the only one who share the same view. This racist remark maybe resulted from the mishandled Manila hostage crisis in 2010,in which 7 Hong Kong tourists and the tour guide was killed.During that crisis,Donald Tsang Yam-Kuen, Former Chief Executive of Hong Kong, tried to call former President Benigno Aquino Jr. as if he was calling a city mayor but he failed.
On the other hand, President Rodrigo Duterte, who went for a state visit in China is making waves across the globe and making the Philippines and the Filipinos "visible" to the sight of international communities.
In Hong Kong, he has unilaterally forced that the contracts of the Filipino household service workers (HSW) should clearly state that they do not have to clean their employers window from the outside, after several HSW fell to their deaths while doing the window cleaning.
He is also pushing that about 200,000 Filipinos who are currently working illegally as HSWs in the region be granted legal status.
The deaths from falling while cleaning the window can be prevented but a lot of cases has happened and the former administration showed not a bit of concern and the Aquino administration did nothing. The Labour and Welfare Bureau has convinced the Philippine Consulate to suspend the window cleaning ban for 30 days to fix the contract details but if the President directs, it will push through.
President Duterte may be ruthless, but he is getting things done.He even convinced China to fund for the infrastructure developments like building a drug rehabilitation facilities for drug dependents.
Beijing welcomed President Duterte with a red carpet and Hong Kong should know that the wind is blowing in favor of the welfare of the Filipino workers and they should be watchful on how they treat them
