Philippine National Police Chief Ronald ‘Bato’ Dela Rosa believes that the only good drug lord is a dead one.
“Totohanan ito. Personally, mas gusto ko silang mamatay kesa magkakaso-kaso pa kami. Kasi napaka-powerful talaga nila,” said dela Rosa in an interview with DZMM’s Karen Davila and Vic Lima.
“Talagang mayayaman itong mga drug lords, kaya nilang baliktarin ang mga kaso. Para wala nang kaso, dapat mamatay na lang silang derecho,” added dela Rosa.
Asked point blank by Davila what he would do if he came face to face with a drug pusher, dela Rosa’s reply was chilling.
“You can just imagine the frustration of the Filipino people and my frustration. Ano gagawin ko sa kanya pag kaharap ko siya? Hindi ko na sasabihin. Basta pag nakita ko siya, all hell will break loose,” said dela Rosa.
Dela Rosa said that despite President Rodrigo Duterte’s standing order to shoot to kill drug lords, the police has no choice but to follow the law in pinning them down.
This meant getting search warrants to get to their houses in posh subdivisions and getting their runners or pushers to testify in court. “Everything will be legal,” said dela Rosa.
