Asians are Ignorant of the Alcohol Prohibition Era

#Asians are Ignorant of the Alcohol Prohibition Era
The headlines are ablaze about Asian countries and their extremely punitive drug laws.
Each country takes pride in how punitive and draconian their drug laws are.

Each Asian country mouths that tired line – “respect our laws”.
I think Indonesians, Malaysians, Chinese, Singaporeans, Filipinos – ASIANS, themselves should start questioning their laws – instead of just respecting it.
In the light of these “stricter than thou” attitude of Asians, I wonder if they have ever come across or learned about the Alcohol Prohibition Era in the United States? I ask because the policies these Asian countries are following now – were the same policies implemented in the US during the Alcohol Prohibition era.
The recreational drugs of todays generation is equivalent to the alcohol of yesterdays generation.
The same operative principles of prohibition are at work, do not expect different outcomes:
– expect more imprisoned individuals
– expect an increase in prison population
– expect an increase in government spending for the prison population – and the prison infrastructure
– expect an increase in corrupted government institutions
– expect an expansion of organized crime

– WITHOUT A DECREASE IN DRUG USE!

Today, the Philippines drug-related prison population accounts for 13.9% of total.
The occupancy level of prison is currently at 316% capacity. In other words – it is congested!
For each prisoner, the government plunders the income of private wage earners – so that the government can spends approximately PhP 64,000 per year on prisoners.
Why should we be spending money on prisoners and not ourselves?
It is time to end this ridiculous nonsensical drug war.
The only time drug consumers ought to be apprehended is when they cause physical harm to others or others properties.
What people do with their money is their business. If they go bankrupt smoking shit – that’s the consequence of their behavior.

If we demand other countries to be kind to our OFWs who are caught in the phoney drug war, we should start with ourselves.
Here’s what can be done in order to negate the negative outcomes of PROHIBITION – LEGALIZE AND DECRIMINALIZE! LEARN THE LESSONS OF ALCOHOL PROHIBITION! LEARN FROM PORTUGAL! LEARN FROM COLORADO!
