Aquino breaks silence on Mamasapano incident

FILE PHOTO: Former President Benigno Aquino III
Former president, Benigno Aquino III once again insisted that he is not responsible for the deaths of the 44 members of the PNP-Special Action Force (SAF) in Mamasapano, Maguindanao on January 25, 2015.
Instead, Aquino pointed to former SAF director Getulio Napeñas as the one responsible for the ill-fated operation.
The former president said, Napeñas failed to properly coordinate with other government agencies despite his order to ensure the sufficient number of back-ups for the operation.
He also denied any US involvement in Oplan Exodus whose primary objective was the capture of international terrorist Zulkifli Binhir alias Marwan — one of FBI’s most wanted.
Aquino also cleared presidential adviser on the peace process, Teresita Deles, from accusations that she was the one who advised the former chief executive of not sending air assets since the operation would gravely affect the then peace negotiation.
This was because it was believed that some members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF)were protecting Marwan and Usman.
Aquino denied leading the troops to their death as he emphasized that Oplan Exodus should have been coordinated with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
He also has no knowledge where the P5 million-peso reward from the US went to.
Aquino also defended his decision to award medal of valor to only two of the killed SAF members.
He claims he based it on the recommendation of the PNP board, and that it had undergone the right process.
He said he agrees with President Duterte’s measures to reevaluate the awarding of medal to other slain SAF commandos.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre, meanwhile, was not convinced with the arguments of the former president.
Aguirre argued that Aquino is just sparing himself from any liability, saying Aquino had a failure in the said operation.
He added that Aquino’s mobile phone should be subjected to forensic examination to determine the conversation he had with the officials who conducted the botched operation.
“He [Aquino] was always saying that [it was Napeñas’ fault]. But he is the one telling a lie. He said he never gave instructions to then suspended PNP Chief General [Alan] Purisima. Then what did he do? He texted with Gen. Purisima and gave orders on what was happening to Marwan and Usman. That means he was on top of the situation. He knows what was going on,” said Aguirre. — Bernard Dadis | UNTV News and Rescue

PRES.DUTERTE NAGWARNING KY Atty DUMLAO PAGDI SUMUKO 24 ORAS 5 MILYON DEad OR ALive

Supt.

Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa on Sunday night reported to President Rodrigo Duterte in the middle of a press conference that Superintendent Rafael Dumlao, tagged in the Jee Ick Joo kidnap-slay, is now under police custody.

"Custody na. Mabuti Dumlao, abogado ka pa naman," Duterte said in a late night press briefing in Malacañang following a command conference with top security officials.

Before Dela Rosa's update on Dumlao, the President gave the police officer 24 hours to surrender to the authorities or he will put P5 million bounty for his capture, dead or alive.

"If you do not come out soon, I will offer dead or alive, ikaw mismo Dumlao, P5 million. Dead of alive. You deliver him to me dead, okay ako. Dalhin mo dyan sa gate ng Malacañang patay, buhay, okay sa akin. Dead or alive," Duterte said earlier.

"Itong si Dumlao, you better surrender or clear yourself. Kung wala kang kasalanan, bakit ka umalis sa Crame?" he said.

Dumlao, who was under restrictive custody by the Philippine National Police (PNP), left Camp Crame late Friday.

Dela Rosa on Saturday said Dumlao had asked for permission to leave camp, but was not given the approval.

Duterte said Dumlao is "putting the reputation of the police in shambles."

"'Pag hindi ka lumabas, patungan kita ng 5 million. I'm giving you exactly 24 hours pag hindi that reward goes into effect," the President said.

Dumlao is the immediate superior of Senior Police Officer 3 Ricky Sta. Isabel, one of the policemen tagged in the Jee kidnap-slay. Sta. Isabel had said Dumlao masterminded the crime.

Duterte also said during the press conference that he is giving the National Bureau of Investigation 48 hours to produce the two civilian assets tagged earlier by Dela Rosa in the kidnap-slay of the South Korean businessman.

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II earlier disclosed to GMA News that one of the civilian assets, Jerry Omlang, has surrendered to the NBI on Friday night. He said the civilian asset is asking protective custody from the bureau.

Duterte said if the NBI fails to produce the two assets, he will relieve the bureau's director, Dante Gierran.

The Reason Why Duterte is Worth Dying for the Philippines

There are days when I feel like a ton of bricks have fallen on me for something I learn about him. How he thinks, for instance, that Ferdinand Marcos, unparalleled plunderer and murderer of a president, is our best president.

And how defends this family of thieves. It feels like my scalp gets scraped with sharpened tongs every time I hear him give such laughably weak reasons for why the Marcoses aren’t all that bad.

Because I know he is a brilliant man and so I wonder what game this dude is playing. I look at his face when he says all that crap and –do I imagine it?—but it looks like he’s not even convinced himself. Ang daming hangin when he talks this way.

And then there are days—like today – when it’s all I can do not to text his secretary and ask where Da Man is because I want to throw my arms around his neck and kiss his funkeh face all over.

Because I found out that the first batch of Yolanda victims who have been living in evacuation centers for the past 3 years have been given homes. Real ones. With electricity and running water and bathrooms.

Not the dog houses the past administration of the heartless elitist bastards, Noynoy and Mar provided. Spotty at less than 1% the number of homes they should have built and when they finally found a trickle of motivation to build homes, what did they build but dog houses where 50 or so families shared one toilet/bathroom?

I know this. I saw the shit they built and when I saw those hovels, the first words out of my mouth were, “You have got to be fucking kidding me..”, endless shaking of head. Shake shake shake.

Hovels that were a little bit wider than one arms’ length and maybe, at most 2 arms’ length at its widest with paper thin plyboards between each unit.

My dogs live so much more luxuriously.

Something that most of us will not be able to live in for one night, they lived in for over 3 yrs.

And just like that. JUST LIKE THAT. And because the president ordered it. The poor, the grieving, the beaten down and defeated have been given a leg up.

The president visited them earlier this month and he saw the same shit others (me included) saw and it grieved him. And this is where he provided the muscle needed to get our kababayans out of the nightmare they were in for the past 3 yrs.

The poor cannot tolerate setbacks as much as we, who are a bit better off, can.

One illness in the family, a typhoon that destroys their homes, takes their livelihoods away- can send them into a downward spin they can’t get out of. And this is where generational poverty starts. It’s just too hard for them to get out of this vicious trap. They need our help—over and beyond what most of us need.

And I hear that on top of these homes, transportation to and from school for the children will be provided for. And then of course, there’s the rice subsidy on top of the conditional cash transfer they will get. And I hear public school kids are going to be given carabao milk every day. In this place where I see so much malnourished children and where children who go to school hungry, day in, day out.

I could cry. Really I could–from this man’s kindness. And how his heart is so clearly for the poor and how he serves them in all ways.

The kind of service I have not seen for the poor from a sitting president in a very long time.

And so today I learned the most powerful man in our country has reached out and given his hand to some of our least powerful.

And today I learned that so much of what I ached for for the people of Samar and Leyte will finally come to pass.

Today is a good day, my friends.

I hug you guys. TIGHT. With gladness and great rejoicing!

Todos saludos, Mr. President!

AIG over pre-need: “Mar Roxas killed the P27-billion pre-need industry’ –Yasay

Secretary of Foreign Affairs Perfecto Yasay, who used to be the former Securities and Exchange Commission chairman, put the blame on Mar Roxas for killing the P27-billion pre-need industry by prioritizing the revival of the American International Group, Inc. which is a life insurance company.

“The P27-billion pre-need industry was the direct competitor of the lackadaisical P5-billion life insurance industry. Mar Roxas, who was then an official of AIG, wanted life insurance to be resuscitated and the only way to do that was to kill the pre-need industry, in which he succeeded being then the secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry, which had nothing to do and had no jurisdiction over SEC. Roxas did it while I was suspended as SEC chairman,” Yasay said during a forum.

According to Yasay, he felt the need to put this issue into light to present Roxas from taking a presidential post in the guise of helping the poor. He said that Roxas’ abuse and misuse of powers during his term as the DTI secretary can be felt by 500,000 policy holders who are now unable to collect the money they invested

Yasay claimed that he was suspended so that Roxas could lobby for the entry of the AIG, sacrificing the pre-need industry in the process.

There was also an anomaly with the probe by the USAID study, which showed that Yasay supposedly ordered the recommendation of the prioritizing of the life insurance business.

“No. I was under suspension at the time. Further probe showed it was Roxas that ordered the study...”

According to him, it is unlawful to collect money from Filipinos and to bring it abroad. He suggested that it should stay in the Philippines to be used for investment on blue-chip companies.
