Jessica Cox, 25, a girl born without arms, stands inside an aircraft. The girl from Tucson, Arizona got the Sport Pilot certificate lately and became the first pilot licensed to fly using only her feet.


Jessica Cox of Tucson was born without arms, but that has only stopped her from doing one thing: using the word "can't."



Her latest flight into the seemingly impossible is becoming the first pilot licensed to fly using only her feet.



With one foot manning the controls and the other delicately guiding the steering column, Cox, 25, soared to achieve a Sport Pilot certificate. Her certificate qualifies her to fly a light-sport aircraft to altitudes of 10,000 feet.


"She's a good pilot. She's rock solid," said Parrish Traweek, 42, the flying instructor at San Manuel's Ray Blair Airport.



Parrish Traweek runs PC Aircraft Maintenance and Flight Services and has trained many pilots, some of whom didn't come close to Cox's abilities.



"When she came up here driving a car," Traweek recalled, "I knew she'd have no problem flying a plane."





Doctors never learned why she was born without arms, but she figured out early on that she didn't want to use prosthetic devices.



Jessica Cox, 25, earned a license to fly airplanes on October 10, 2008. Jessica also has two black belts in Tae Kwan-Do, a college
degree in Psychology, and a thriving career as a motivational speaker. What doesn't Jessica Cox have? Arms.A bilateral congenital limb deficiency doesn't stop Ms. Cox from achieving and surpassing her goals. From birth on, her feet became her hands. She can drive a car, type 25 words per minute, and fly an airplane using her feet, without any special adaptations. She is the first woman without arms to earn a license to fly.
"I highly encourage people with disabilities to consider flying," Cox said. "It helps reverse the stereotype that people with disabilities are powerless into the belief that they are powerful and capable of setting high goals and achieving them."
Jessica earned her Sport Pilot certificate after training with Able Flight, a North Carolina flight training company that specializes in helping people with disabilities learn to fly. Ms. Cox won an Able Flight scholarship and was able to train with instructor Parrish Traweek free of charge.

The first proof that the Arroyos, et al, do no know the Bible is their efforts to prolong the rule and influence of President Arroyo. They do not realize what the Bible says:

T he Alpha-and-the-Omega axiom has given rise to a Tagalog adage: “Pag may umpisa, may katapusan” (If there is a beginning, there is an end). The Arroyos, et al, do not (and refuse to) admit that she is a lame duck and sooner or later, she will not wield the powers and perks of the presidency.

When Gloria Arroyo leaves the presidency, she will be like the fabled “emperor without clothes.” Without the presidential immunity, she will be like naked and brought to justice, as described in this article:

8M Dollar Rizal-Blumentritt Documents Found

Prague, Czech Republic – June 28, 2009 - Documents of Rizal and Blumentritt including five paintings of Juan Luna could fetch an estimated value of US$8 million, according to Stephan Klococka. They were found hidden in Cesky Budejovice Museum, 98 kilometers north of Prague, Czech Republic.

Four boxes were discovered believed to shed historical facts that are extremely important in Philippine history during the colonial Spanish era that span for over 320 years. These documents were never published. They were protected in vaults and had survived two world wars, 41-year Communist regime and 21years under the Soviet Union.

The existence of the discovery was mentioned to the Czech Ambassador to the Philippines in the summer of 2008 and was immediately suggested to Noubikko to visit the museum.

The discovery was first mentioned at the Knights of Rizal Council meeting in Bonn, Germany in November of 2008. Lucien Spittael, a retired NATO officer and Rizal-research specialist who was in Ceske Budejovice in 2007, confirmed their existence. He said that he knew then that there were more to found.

In June 17 of 2009, two American experts, Dr. Samuel Bernal, PhD. MD and Richard Branders, Security Adviser for Czech Republic and Poland were joined by Noubikko to reevaluate the findings. This time, they were showed pages upon pages of personal letters of Rizal, archives of unpublished manuscripts, portraits and paintings all of which are extremely important documents about the Rizal-Blumentritt relationship and the Philippines.

Helena Steyskalova, curator of the museum said the collection is enough to build another museum. Dr. Bernal said the collection is amazing. And, Branders said this could, definitely, puzzle the attention of international Rizal experts.

In June 23, 2009, an emergency meeting was called by Stephan Klococka, Deputy Commander for the Knights in Prague and planned the presentation of the discovery to the media and to all scholars to insure truthfulness of historical facts.

It is not yet known as to what is the extent of the findings. Personal letters and manuscripts are one-of-a-kind which were kept for over a century, most likely, they have never been read by any historian, Noubikko said. He also said that he is certain this is one of the most important historical discoveries in modern times.

Only about 5% were showed from the four boxes believed to contain extremely important historical facts in Philippine history were found. The boxes were protected and had survived two world wars including 41 years of communist regime and 21 years under Soviet Union.

WHY WAIT FOR IT?

We are now some years into the 21st century and have, in that same time frame made quantum leaps into the age of the Internet. Many technical facilities have been made available, which our order hasn’t made use of at all or if indeed - only inchoate. I have learned a Tagalog phrase, “ningas kugon,” which roughly means “brush-fire.” That is exactly how our Order has treated new technology – a short-lived enthusiasm. Therefore there is now an urgent need for reforms in our Order, which could already be resolved now without too much strife and struggle!

An electronically election system of some kind is to be prepared by Sir Hans Schoof and when applied in the near future should simplify and accelerate decision-making and at the same time directly involve members from all over the world – a truly democratic exercise. This is beyond doubt a positive step towards addressing the Order’s expanded national and international stature.

We live - and who will argue that point - in a worldwide information society, which is more and more dependent on acquiring information fast and/or in time. The leadership of our Order seems unaware for some years now of the need to keep in step with this phenomenon and if it does, not in the amount of enthusiasm expected of it. It cannot, for one, disseminate information immediately to members around the world. When it does it comes in trickles and drops. This piecemeal and old fashion of distribution can be very disadvantageous and depriving. The Order needs to have a domain for itself, possibly one with an .ORG ending that is well maintained and updated. It should not rely on Chapter domains to carry this task.

Professionalism must come immediately, so that the members of our Order and others in this world, who are interested in our hero, could find all that we could offer as information about our order and our idol – centrally – through the Internet. Although different websites exist out there maintained by some chapters and by individual Knights, it is of paramount importance for the Supreme Council in Manila to maintain its own domain.

It is to be noted that the domain name is not anymore a wide choice. Take for example http://www.knightsofrizal.com (Australia); www.knights-of-rizal.com (UK and Ireland); www.knightsofrizal.org (Malaya Chapter in Chicago); It might be a good idea for Manila to secure the domain name: www.knights-of-rizal.org as soon as possible!

An example of ineffectiveness and non-professionalism is the transmission of electronic mail through the headquarters. This was last experienced in the mailing of the new By-Laws. The problem is not with individuals who are responsible for transmission. It lies more in the flawed structural and organizational methods applied. This is further exacerbated by the prevailing attitude of some members of the upper echelon.

There should be a database available whereupon the dissemination of information to members can be regulated to the utmost efficiency. The distribution of newsletters, which at one push of the button - can send messages to all or to particular members, is neither technically difficult nor entails high costs.

Through the fulfilment of these few requests to the betterment of the Order, it will be taken positively as step towards the impression that leadership and membership are moving towards unity and harmony. It will measure the willingness of leadership to lend an ear and for the membership to have the feeling of belonging. I have been reminded, nay warned, that too much dissemination of information has its negative effects; that it can bring more confusion and some members can be alienated. I do not buy this argument nor will I argue about it. It is simply imperative that information gets around. Only through openness can we make things work.

6 Reasons Not To Mess With Children

A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales.

The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small.

The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale.

Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible.

The little girl said, 'When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah'.

The teacher asked, 'What if Jonah went to hell?'

The little girl replied, 'Then you ask him'.

A Kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work.

As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was.

The girl replied, 'I'm drawing God.'

The teacher paused and said, 'But no one knows what God looks like.'

Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl replied, 'They will in a minute.'

A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five and six year olds.

After explaining the commandment to 'honour' thy Father and thy Mother, she asked, 'Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?'

Without missing a beat one little boy (the oldest of a family) answered, 'Thou shall not kill.'

One day a little girl was sitting and watching her mother do the dishes at the kitchen sink. She suddenly noticed that her mother had several strands of white hair sticking out in contrast on her brunette head.

She looked at her mother and inquisitively asked, 'Why are some of your hairs white, Mum?'

Her mother replied, 'Well, every time that you do something wrong and make me cry or unhappy, one of my hairs turns white'

The little girl thought about this revelation for a while and then said, 'Mummy, how come ALL of grandma's hairs are white?'

The children had all been photographed, and the teacher was trying to persuade them each to buy a copy of the group picture.

'Just think how nice it will be to look at it when you are all grown up and say, 'There's Jennifer, she's a lawyer,' or 'That's Michael, He's a doctor.'

A small voice at the back of the room rang out, 'And there's the teacher, she's dead.'

A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood. Trying to make the matter clearer, she said, 'Now, class, if I stood on my head, the blood, as you know, would run into it, and I would turn red in the face.'

'Yes,' the class said.

'Then why is it that while I am standing upright in the ordinary position the blood doesn't run into my feet?'

A little fellow shouted,
'Cause your feet ain't empty.'

I LIKE THE NEXT ONE IN PARTICULAR

The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray:

'Take only ONE . God is watching.'

Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies.

A child had written a note, 'Take all you want. God is watching the apples.'

It doesn't matter how many people you send this to, just remember if it made you laugh, your friends will laugh too..
